Okay, so my uncle wants to buy a couple of Ted Nugent albums. So he asked me if I knew whta his best albums are.

But sionce I'm not really a fan of the Nuge, I gotta turn to the Army.

I know there are a couple of Nugeheads around, so maybe you guys can help me out with this?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers1 :bottle:

K...at the risk of starting a shitfest, I'll reply...

I actually like his work. He's an idiot, politically...but an amazing guitar player.

My favorites are WEEKEND WARRIORS (1978) and CALL OF THE WILD (1973)...the latter is impossible to find, but I got a copy off E-bay on CD a while ago.

Out of his most popular early albums, I'd pick FREE-FOR-ALL over the self-titled '75 album and CAT SCRATCH FEVER (1977)...even though the latter is probably his most popular release.

I actually saw Ted last year at our local Summer Concert Series and he was great except for talking about his political views between songs.. I really enjoy his live albums..

Anyway, here are the staples...

Ted Nugent (self titled) first album 1975 I believe

Cat Scratch Fever

Double Live Gonzo

Spirit of the Wild

Live at Hammersmith 79

Craveman

I love the Cat Scratch Fever album since it has Homebound which is my favorite song of his.

I would get your uncle Ted's DVD set called Full Frontal Nugity. It has Ted playing Detroit and some vintage footage from 1967 through the 70's.

I wasn't much into Ted until I met him a few years ago at a KISS concert he was the warmup band for. I met his wife and son as well. The Nugents are actually really nice people and I got invited to see Ted do a bow and arrow demonstration at the Sportsman's Warehouse.

If you are intrested in guitar and playing well, Ted is a good guy to talk to. He knows his shit and unlike many good and famouse players, he is willing to share everything he knows and he can actually teach it well.

The Nuge is pretty funny. He knows both Gene Simmons and Paul Standley real well and he was making jokes about Gene's bad wig he wears. Apparently Mr. Simmons is balding and wears a wig. He was also joking about how Gene will sell anything to anyone and said if Gene lived in Nazi Germany Hitler would have KISS memorabilia. He also said some nasty stuff went on behind the scenes with Ace and Peter Criss. Very nasty anti-sematic things and Gene and Paul had the class to never spread the dirt and keep those guys part of the KISS legacy. I guess Ace was really into Nazi shit and trashed Gene's hotel room while in a SS uniform and Gene's mom is a holocaust survivor. Not cool. It got ugly.

Ted also said Eddie Van Halen was slobber mouth drunk the whole time VH and Ted toured but Eddie could grab a guitar and kick it's ass when he hardly could even talk. Ted said Hendrix was the same way. Tottaly wasted on LSD but could play brilliantly while high as a kite.

Cool dirt Nitro.

I would recommend anything from the 70's. + Live at Hammersmith!

Every album has SOMETHING.

Kinda partial to his first solo. Just something about that whole album.

Weekend Warriors for Venom Soup, damn that song rocks.

Fred Bear, the guy can tell a story.

THe 1st Nuge solo record is classic......

CALL OF THE WILD by the AMBOY DUKES as well.......

Ted's a tool when it comes to politics.....but...his stance on gun control & the 2nd Admendment are right on the target.......

Now....if only he hadn't let NISSAN use STRANGLEHOLD for a commerical.........

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Dyf1mp5LL._SS500_.jpg yeah this is a very useful compilation for beginners .

my personal fave studio album is Weekend Warriors. Need You Bad is the most suitable for the air guitar play!
but as diamondjimi said, all his 70's stuff are recommendable.

I got on Ted's good side immediately. His manager introduced me to him and one of the questions he asked me was how many guns I own. I closed my eyes and started straining my brain. I collect old military surplus rifles and I have no idea how many I have. I do keep a log book as required by the BATF because I have a curio and relice firearms license. Ted loved it I had so many I got flabbergasted trying to figure out how many I had.

Ted is about Constitutional rights. All of them. In a day and age of terrorism happening right here in the US and bozos shooting up public places, our constitutional rights will come under attack as never before.

What's ironic is the president guys like Ted support has done away with habious corpus and the need for warrants with the Patriot Act. If you are SUSPECTED of being a terrorist, the Constitution does not apply to you even if you are a US citizen. That is pure bullshit.

Ted might be misguided but he cares. His heart is in the right place.

It was nice to see Ted in a back-up role and not constantly in the limelight. I saw both tours...my favorite part was when Tommy started busting in to some Styx, and Ted cuts him off...Tells him his guitar is out of tune and they start jamming some Damn Yankees bith laughing!

WEEKEND WARRIORS is a great, underrated album. ONE WOMAN is a great slow blues. GOOD FRIENDS AND A BOTTLE OF WINE is in the CAT SCRATCH FEVER vein but even better. VENOM SOUP is just amazing, with a really trippy beginning (but shitty lyrics). And check out SMOKESCREEN...a real STRANGEHOLD vibe to it.

I'd also really recommend seeking out CALL OF THE WILD. It's hard to find, but the title track, SWEET REVENGE and PONY EXPRESS are all amazing early 70s rock with great guitar playing.

I would upload CALL OF THE WILD here if I could, but I know that would get the site into trouble...

My favorite stuff is with Derek St. Holmes...I like his vocals much better.

They really seemed like a good pairing for band type of situation...which of course Ted was not looking for.

That soundcheck footage is awesome! Even during soundcheck, a Ted solo goes until Ted damn-well feels like stopping!

Going to see Ted in a few weeks!
Rush is just a few days after that.

Fuckin A! Sabbath, Ted, Rush & then Ozzy, later in the summer! Woot Woot! What a summer.

All it needs now is some CVH this fall...
