Dude. Nothing wrong with signing up. What do you want out of the experience. I wanted to fly aircraft but my red/green colorblindness kept me out. I would have signed up right out of college to fly something.

What are you interested in? I've been pretty impressed with the Marine Corps. I think their general training is better than the Army but the Army has their special forces that are good too.

I know right now they are really looking for good helecopter mechanics. More so than piolets and that's something you can do as a civilian if you want to. My nephew is doing that in the National Guard and using his Guard money to finance his civilian helecopter piolet training.

We are not fighting a specific country or even a religion. We are fighting a specific idealology that believes in attacking innocent civilians, including their own people to make a statement. The end goal is to turn the world against Israel and get the US out of the Middle East. As long as half the Jews in the world live in the US and there is oil in the Middle East, they aren't going to get their wish anytime soon.

I think Al Quaida didn't get anything out of 9/11. We are in the Middle East more than ever and Israel is selling us half our ammunition. Those idiots thought they would trap us in Afganistahn and slaughter us like they did the Soviets. Sorry, the Soviets didn't have precision bombing and B-52 bombers on call to carpet bomb the minefields. The Afgahn campaign went real well.

Various shades of gray dear. I do agree with you to an extent. But it is known that the Saudis have permitted an extensive network for terror, until recently, as a cynical Orwellian means to vent internal strife outward.

In fact, one of my favorite (not-inside job) 9/11 conspiracy theories has roughly 150 members of the House of Saud mysteriously dying of thirst in the desert not long after the attacks. Mind you, a bedouin dying of thirst is like an Eskimo freezing to death. It just doesn't happen very often. The list was supposedly supplied by the US gov't with the expectation that these people would be "dealt with," and then the US would continue to collude with the Saudis.

It's one theory I do believe BTW...

I have had family members who have lived in Saudi Arabia, and when my son was involved with coke when he was younger, it was Arabs that he was involved with.

Osama Bin Laden is NOT a Saudi citizen... he was exiled... mainly due to the al-Saud's big friendship with people like the Bush family. This is one of the best posts ever in here! Right on 100%. The arabs couldn't get their own oil out of the ground so Saudi Arabia reluctantly opened up to the west and since the US had the best oil extraction technology, we got our foot in the door. I've known families who have lived in Saudi Arabia because daddy worked for some oil company. This has been going on for 40 years. And yes, foriegners live in special camps.

I refuse to defame Mohammed or Jesus. Both men never wrote anything down. Christianity and Islam came after the people the religions are based on and the scripture was written later. I think both were very popular and how celebrities are worshipped today, some clever people hijacked the movement and made it their thing. The real battle in this country is not left vs right, black vs white, north vs south, or any other such thing.

the military is a great stepping stone to wealth and adventure.

my buddies little brother, went to an aircraft mechanics school in oklahoma before enlisting in the airforce. hes been in the airforce for at least 15 years now and loves his job.

when he gets out he will have his military pension and will be able to work for any airline or airline developer in the world.
he will write his own ticket. he will die a millionaire.

he has been to germany, france, south korea, japan, hawaii. just to list the places that i know of.
he has drove his cars on the audobon.
he has been to paris.
he has been fishing several times on the great barrier reef.
he works on planes that cost more than the mall you shop in.

sounds like a good life to me.

yes im sure someone with his experience will make 200k a year easily

hell i pay a forklift mechanic 115 dollars an hour to work on my shit, and hes hard to get ahold of, busy busy busy.

i know drywall finishers that make 80k a year.

i have no idea how much his parents paid for his tuition but ill guess it was at leasst 10grand a year.? who knows.

Funny, I knew a guy-former 12 year Air force aircraft mechanic..

He was working right next to me, and the OSU grad.

ABX didn't want him, seems the planes they use are completely different from those he used to repair, so they didn't hire him...
Needed MORE schooling for that.

So everyone who joins the military should only do so if there's a chance you can benefit from it in civilian life?
