It's Sydenham chorea, which is a neurological disorder of childhood resulting from infection that is characterized by rapid, irregular, and aimless involuntary movements of the arms and legs, trunk, and facial muscles...

Also known as chorea Sancti Viti and Huntington's chorea, it's associated with a progressive, growth of bacteria in the mouth and causes tooth decay...

HOW CAN YOU MISS VITUS?!?!? :mad:

You know, it's funny...that show above (first few clips), they must be playing to what, 15-20 people tops? Never had an audience the whole time they were together...and yet, they split up and in the aftermath, they become the predominant American doom metal band of the 80's...if not of all time...finally regarded as the legends they truly were, but ONLY after they say "Fuck this shit" and walk away from it all...

Classic success story, hunh? :D

Beside Electric Wizard and Cathedral, I don't think you've duped much actually.

I can't explain how I missed Saint Vitus, must be because I'm an idiot :)

One band I wanted to get decent footage of was Trouble - they were amazing back in the day, and I'd love to see some live footage....

Vitus was discovered by Greg from Black Flag, which is why they shared studio time with Black Flag, toured with Black Flag (imagine that kinda concert...yeah, they were QUITE reviled by the BF audience), released several LPs and EPs (and one best of) on SST Records as well...Greg and Dez were involved in album production for the first five years, I think...something like that....

When they tried playing on their own, in essence NOT opening, they could barely get 20 people through the door, although they'd sell to 100 or better over in Germany (they signed to Hellhound in '89 which gave them a little more exposure over there). In fact, I think, from '89 to '96, they only played about 20 odd shows in the U.S.; for their reunion album/farewell thingie in '95, they played about 5 or 6 shows in different cities in Germany and called it a day.

They did an appearance at Germany's Full Force festival in 2004, just as a one-off sort of deal, and they had their biggest audience ever with that, I think; also sold out the House of Blues in Chicago the same year if memory serves. They were all pretty amazed by the reception they got, they couldn't hardly fucking believe it. The Germany show's available on DVD on their Myspace page, I think...or at least you can link to it from there...

Seriously, though, I don't think you could find a newer doom band that won't site Saint Vitus as a major influence (newer as in, say, '90's and up...after Cathedral made it doable again).
