A lot better than George Lynch, even in High School...

But not a patch on Randy Rhodes or Jake E Lee......

I'm a big fan of Pride and Glory and BLS, but I just don't think that Zakk plays as well as those too. Of course, not being a guitar play, I have nothing objective to go off, just what my ears tell me....

Sorry,

but Zakk´s an idiot and as a guitar player he´s a one trick pony.

He got lucky when he was at the right place at the right time when Ozzy needed a new guitar player. Jake E. Lee for example, plays in a completely different league!

Why do you hate George Lynch?

He´s one of the nicest "stars" or "guitar heros" I´ve ever met! And a killer player too!

ELVIS

George lynch is more of a one trick pony than Zakk...

Actually, most rock guitarists are a one trick pony...

But lynch has no particular style or trademark...

He sounds exactly like any bar band guitar hero from about 20 years ago...

BTW, I never said I hate him...

Well, I am a guitar player, and I agree with you. ;) Not to bash Zakk at all (and I can attest he's a cool dude in person), but RHOADS ;)
and Jake are/were in a different league.

I don't know what the fuck you guys are talking about with Lynch. Nice guy and complete badass.
I'm tellin' ya, in LA in the mid/late 70's, - before any of them were signed,
by all veteran accounts I hear, the holy trinity of guitar was EVH, Rhoads, and Lynch.
Depending on who you talk to, not necessarily in that order. :D

ELVIS
06-08-2007, 03:26 AM
No, it's EVH, Rhoads, and Malmsteen...

:elvis:

Not from eyewitness accounts. ;) Besides, Malmsteen didn't come over from Sweden 'til late '82/early '83 I'm pretty sure...
but when he did show up, he certainly turned the guitar world upside down, much like Eddie before him...

Yeah, I actually remember getting the Steeler LP in '83 after reading about him in Guitar Player 'Spotlight'...and thinking "WTF?"
Exactly the same reaction as when my sister first played 'Eruption' for me....:D

:elvis: Take away the pinch harmonics and you have a pretty adequate description of Zakk as well!

Funny thing is, Zakk - and Vivian Campbell, Phil Collen, John Sykes etc. all got that shit from Gary Moore...before he got the blues...lol

No, 20 years ago Lynch was a huge influence on a gazillion bar band guitarists...

If anyone's a 1 trick pony it has to be Yngwie. He's a monster blues player when he chooses to play it.

I believe that he has released two solo albums in the past five years.

One of guitar-wankery a la Satch/Vai which was called something like "Fine Pink Mist" (I can't remember exactly) and a blues one too.

I wish he'd get himself into a rock band. Or reform Badlands, obviously with a new singer.

If you go to bee.fm, there's a copy of the demo Zakk sent to get the Ozzy gig.

here (http://www.bee.fm/albums/wylde-zakk-s6499/)

What a wankerist!!!

You just contradicted yourself...

But you can kinda call all of our favourite guitarists a "one trick pony" and it's not a bad thing...

It's that individual player's bag of tricks that drops our jaw time after time...

Lesson # 1...

If either Yngwie or Lynch were as good as this, I might listen to 'em for more than two minutes...

Yngwie is easily just as good...

Lynch is "B" rated at best...

I met George at a workshop here in Cologne. Not many people there, free beer and most of the people couldn´t speak English.

His bag of tricks is great, he´s just not the show-off kind of wanker others are. If you get him to show off a bit, you´d be surprised.

:elvis:

Tricks are tricks ,but I think an individuals phrasing is what will make someone unique.

We've all heard a million Yngwie or EVH clones but no one is convincing as the original.
Phrasing is essentially a huge part of a players musical DNA.

And George is cool as shit. Very nice guy. So's Ed, every time I got to deal with him for that matter. Yngwie is alternately cool and a douchebag, depending on what day you catch him. ;)

Let's see, i'm gonna listen to this guy's guitar playing because he's a nice guy and he bakes good cookies...

That guy over there can wail, but his cookies are burnt and he frowned at me...
