It's the make up the money Valerie took from me amp. It sounded Line 6 to me.

I was bashing this amp the other day, but I picked up the Guitar World with that video on the cd rom and checked it out. I think I'm eating my words now, it sounds pretty good.

Comparing it to your POD? Which one do you have? I have the POD XT and this amp sounds better than any of my settings or any others I've found.

hmmm, there is A LOT of midrange there. Not sure if it is voiced that way or he has it cranked. The lead channel didn't sound as beefy as the original 5150. I'll have to tryone for my self as I'm not impressed with this guys tone.

this is a good way to show it, but a lot also depends on the guitar one is using along with the pick ups and specs.

I think that's the key; I've NEVER wanted to run out and buy something based on this guy's demonstrations,
and I've yet to hear him get a decent tone out of anything....not saying he's not a competent player, but...

I wanna try it out based on the tone Ed was getting at NAMM...I was more impressed with the tone on that...

After I thought about it, I noticed how mid range-y that demo was. I went back and watched the NAMM demo.

I paused this new demo to have a look see at how he had the controls set. I'll be.....He has the gain around 5 or 6 and the mid and treble both around 7 or 8 and the bass around like 4. No fucking wonder it sounds like it has so much mid. I thought it may have been voiced that way, the 5150 II is voiced with way more mid than the original. The NAMM demo sounded good, not too much mid.

Just my observation, I'll have to check one out when it comes near me.

The 5150 II is a whole different amp than the original 5150 which is basically a high gain buzz machine. The 5150 II has a pretty good crunch channel on it that is amazingly tweakable with the EQ and presence and resonance settings.

Wonder how it sounds with the gain cranked up...?

Whatever one Ted Nugent uses sounds GRATE!

One of the best live guitar sounds ever...

I didn't buy a 5150 II because of Ed. I bought mine because of Ted. Damn straight. Nugent sound increadable live with those amps and he uses factory stock ones. He also gets a good blues tone.

The 5150 II is the amp he uses. The 5150 probably wouldn't be warm enough.

The 5150 II or now the 6505+ (Peavey renamed the amp because Ed owns the 5150 trademark) likes low output pickups like old Gibson humbuckers. Ted plays vintage instruments with old stock pickups. His 58 Les Paul and Byrdlands sound so awsome through a 5150 II stack!

Let's think about this for a moment. Ed was clean and sober when the original 5150 came out. (or close to it). The original was and still is an awesome amp. Simple, great tone....Then the version II came out. Maybe still semi sober. Good amp, only thing i don't like is the lack of response from the eq controls. they do n't do much. Still good amp.....

So let's ponder this....He JUST got sober. Meaning the version III was designed while he was shit faced 24 hrs a day. Meth, booze, whatever. When you are in a drunken state, your ears play tricks on you. You think things sound good when they may not while sober. I wonder h ow much of his meth/booze ear is in this amp. I have not had a chance to find one yet to play. It may sound great who knows. Just wondering what may have changed if he had not been so fucked up

The 5150 II has an adjustable bias control for the tubes which the 5150 doesn't.

I liked the way Ed's demo at NAMM sounded, his sobriety or lack thereof notwithstanding...I'm interested to hear it.
I went by the Sherman Oaks GC to check it out yesterday, but somebody had just bought the replica AND the only amp they had in stock the day before...

Poor kid, Eddie's probably sued him for everything he has for ripping off his licks.

Not as bad as the idiot from gearwire.com....

He looks like he needs a shower... plus, he takes metal guitars and pedals and plays blues licks with them.
