Whats the fucking point in this?

Without the blade then what you have is a metal handle not a lightsabre.

What if you just wanted to mount the thing on a plaque to hang on the wall or something? You don't need a blade for THAT!

But then, if the Imperial Stormtroopers land and take over the planet, you damn well better have a WORKING lightsabre.
