you're right, it's not completely too late. but it's really, really close. because the entire thing would have to happen before 1/20/09. that's charges brought, verified, approved in the house, and then the vote in the senate. this is not a 3 week deal. it will take many months. possible to get done before january 2009? yes. but if so, just barely.

Perhaps that coupled with major changes to the way we elect our leaders might go some way towards a solution (i.e. making it so that it doesn't cost several tens of millions of dollars to run for public office and an honest school teacher has just as much a chance of winning a seat as an old-money career politician).

I found the number of servicemen from each country and divided them by their populations in 1940. I thought I was going the extra mile by quoting those percentages instead of sheer numbers (US contributed 16 million to Canada's one million if I recall correctly)
