PANAMARK GO AWAY!

Hey guys and gals!... or should I say, G'day?

My parents are trying to think of something from Guitar Center to get Panamark (my husband if you don't know).
PANAMARK YOU BETTER NOT ENTER...THIS IS A SECRET!

You guys talk music gear with him all the time, as do I, but I thought I might get some ideas from you all.

Before you start giving some ideas, he just bought himself (YEA, SNEAKY, RIGHT BEFORE HIS BIRTHDAY), the Guitar Rig 2 as well as the Cakewalk Sonar 6 Producer Edition.

Also, please do not start naming Les Pauls and Marshalls and stuff that costs above about $500, preferably around $200. I mean, it's my parents we're talking about here, not millionaires.

It has to come from Guitar Center not Musicians Friend because my parents live near one, and it's easier for them to get something there.

Thanks everyone!
:D

I know! I want to go there so bad. We are spending most of our money right now flying back and forth to the USA, and entertaining family who come to visit.

We'll make it there one day! New Zealand is like Led Zeppelin Lord of the Rings land. I have to see it one day!

Can someone move this thread to Gear Street?! I should have put it there to begin with. I asked Brownsound, but I don't think he has posted for awhile.

Thanks!

I already got him like 5 year supply of strings when I used to work there.

But good idea!

G'day Mary .

Although it's out of the price range, the only thing I could think of was from a thread Brownsound did where he found a company where you can buy the parts and build a Plexi for under a grand.
That would be the ultimate for a tone chaser who also has electronics chops.
It would be a great project and you'd have it forever.
Throw a mic in front of that monster for home recording.

Wow that's cool! Mark would love that. That's more of a present I could get him though. I need something simple my parents can pick up from G Center.

I still want to know the details that though. I am intrigued!

Where is Brownsound, anyway?

That little Gibson Melody Maker reissue is a bargain. I purchased the single pickup model before it even came out. The body is a bit thinner than a Junior, so the two pickup model will have less crunch. Not unlike a Special v/s a Junior. The single coil pickup is supposedly the result of direct replication of original tooling. It's alot brighter than a P90. For around 380 bucks, it'll be a guitar instead of gadgets. Everybody loves to have another guitar!!

Yea, I am familiar with the Melody Maker. This is something that has got to be shipped to Australia from USA. I don't want the shipping to cost too much. Something smaller would be ideal. We are waiting to get new guitars when we can bring the flight case back to America when we come back at Christmas.

I think the next guitar we get will be another Paul.

Thanks for that, though. Everyone does like a new guitar to add to the colleciton. ;)

Isn't that the one you put on the pool table and named Nelly Furtado? :)

I should probably add that it's great for metally stuff. Grab an old tube screamer and an old Marshall....L7 heaven. Alot of those killer L7 riffs were Melody Maker exclusives. Fairly versatile guitar as well. A friend of mine played some Jerry Reed type stuff with it through his old Orange....he liked it, and that's the only reason I know it's versatile.

Oh, so it is good for metal? Really?

I new it was good for the whole southern rock sound. I know the Les Paul Jrs. sound pretty awesome through a plexi, but it is more of a classic rock sound really, isn't it? Mark likes that too, and classic rock tone Plexi or JCM 800 and Paul are my favourite tone in the world.

Here's Suzi (the one on the left) playing one. It's an older double cut. Two pickups. I've played one of those....far less crunch than the reissue, and even brighter.

Wow. It definitely has a good sound. I do think we are going to wait on getting him a guitar though. We've got them coming out of our ears here!

I've told my parents to consider getting him the IK Mulitmedia Amplitude 2 Electric Guitar Amplifier and Effects Modeling Plug In Software.
