I don't know maybe Duran Duran is fucking gay... lol

It was sort of a childhood obsession before I started listen to rock & metal...

It started with the Rio and i'm still a big fucking fan...

"Falling down" is the first single and it's heads and tails better than both of these stupid cheap shots at hit single.

The video for "Falling down" will rival the R-rated Girls on Film.

Look for Box full of honey.
It's pretty good too.

Ironic that they would release a guitar oriented single after losing their guitarist a second time. The guy who filled in at Live Earth played the parts well, but apparently they have no permanent replacement for Andy Taylor.

I dunno. I agree that it's ironic.

The guitar in Falling Down reminds me of Warren Cuccurillo's (sp?) work on the "Wedding Album" when he was with them.

FORD is still wating for a POWER STATION reunion, after they dig up Robert Palmer.

I only found a 30 second sample, and it wasn't very clear.

Does anyone think is gonna be another big comeback for them like the wedding album?

I love Andy Taylor.
He did what he felt was right both times.

Sad, but I can't disrespect a guy who just wants to make his own music instead of programmed and formatted shit for the dolla...

Nah, not even the super-fans think that.

I think that if they had just stayed true to themselves and made the music that they wanted to make, there would at least be a chance at some airtime other than adult contemporary office background music.

But I think just because they're trying to ride Justin Timberlake's coat tails into the mainstream, they'll fall flat.

Again.

Not just Justin Timberlake... but they have one of the hottest producers out right now... Timbaland... I could see them gettin' alot of MTV exposure.

Ellyllions

Timbaland might be "hot" but check his album sales.
He's only hot in the industry. And what he did with Skin Divers as well as Night Runner is just shitty Paris hilton music.

And Tony Thompson, and Bernard Edwards.... :(

Seriously though, I wished that the Power Station would have continued at the time. It established that John & Andy Taylor were the real talent in Duran Duran, but you couldn't tell because the damn keyboards became the focus of everything.

As for Warren Cuccurillo, I thought he was better in Missing Persons.

These songs are not even close to the "Wedding Album"

Duran Duran paint by numbers

Everyone apart from John Taylor mimes at every show they do.

They are Milli fucking Vanilli these days.

Marilyn Manson said it best, "Duran Duran made a lot of young boys think they were gay." And then again, any male that wore that much makeup...naw, can't say that because a ton of rock bands were wearing makeup; any male that wore effiminent clothing....er, um...naw, can't say that either because a ton of rock bands did that too...ok, I got it! Any band that was that good looking, dated supermodels, had women clamouring over each other, exhaulted the synthesizer, and had British accents (That's it!) HAD to be gay right?

I've seen this band live 2 times and no, they don't lipsynch. Simon flubbs words, strains his guts through some of the old hits, and hits a flat note or 12. It's real. Just this crop of songs are real shit. I ain't gonna sugar coat it.

Again, Ford is right...John and Andy Taylor was/were the musical talent in the band. Although John's heart isn't in it now-a-days. He actually told Rolling Stone magazine that he doesn't want to work. He and Simon both are pretty pissed off at the length of the contract they've got with the record company because it means they have to create new music. Or as John put it, "actually work".

If you're interested, this is the second album they've done since 2005. The first was with Andy and was a collection of songs akin to the first album. The record company poo-pooed it and sent them back to the recording studio telling them to "urban" it up. That's why Andy left. In his blog he said that he'd rather make the music he wants to make than to have to cater to the "MTV youth" for money's sake. He sees the slow agonizing death that Duran will fall.

I always find it hilarious when 80's hair metal fans try to deduce the sexual tendencies of Duran Duran.

Wonder if Rob Halford likes Duran Duran?....hmm

Wawazat

Never saw them live & have no intention to do so.

Albums such as Big Thing, Notorious or the aforementioned Wedding Album have aged very well.

Still a good listen nowadays.

You can say what you want about aDuran Duran and the gHey genE™, but they were really solid musicians that wrote their own stuff...

As bad as LeBon sounded at Live Aid, that fucking cheesedick Michael DesBarres sounded 10 times worse. He was easily the second-worst lead singer replacement of 1985.
