John Bonham and Ginger Baker; AVH's influences, are among the best.
Phil Rudd from AC/DC has a great groove.

Have to agree with Peart, Ulrich, and Lee. I'd like to add Mike Portnoy to that list. This dude tears it up like no-one I've ever seen live.

When it comes to Guns N' Roses, do you think Steven Adler was better than Matt Sorum?
I think so. He nailed it out on "it's so easy".

Steven Adler was the only "real" drummer in Guns N' Roses.

How can anyone mention favorite drummers without mentioning
Peter Cooperland (I think that's how it's spelled) from the Police!

One of my friends worked with Phil Rudd from AC/DC
My friend is an Electrician. The Boss of the company
and Phil hated each other.
When Phil was given the call up to tour with AC/DC
he told the Boss to get fucked. Aparantley he returned
months and months later and did a burn out in the factory
carpark in his new ferrari, giving everybody the bird.
as he drove away.. I love that story ! :)

A lot of greats, but in my 35 years in this crazy business, I gotta say that I really liked Randy Castillo (RIP) when he was with Ozzy.

Randy maybe wasn't the #1 greatest drumer ever but he was the most rounded as a musician and a person.

Hey....you guys bashing Alex Van Halen obviously never saw him play in person, up close, in the old Van Halen days. My first show to see VH was 1977. Alex even put on some killer shows with Spammy before VH peaked in the early 90's.

Any Touring pro will tell you Alex is to the drums, that Eddie is to the guitar. I can count on one hand the drummers in the world that could even play Alex's massive setup with four base drums.
