Thom is right.

It's reported that Al was seriously considering entering the race, but he was concerned Hillary had already sewn up to much of the machine.

However, if Al was to pick a runing mate FIRST, and announce the ticket, he'd probably have 30-40% right out of the gate.

Which ticket do you think would make the most sense, and be the most viable.

Strictly hypothetical, ignoring your predispositions to say he shouldnt run, wont run, or can't win regardless.

IF he were to do this, which would make the most sense from a tactical and idealogical standpoint?

Gore/Obama would probably be the ultimate Hillary crushing machine.

Gore/Richardson would be the indisputable "experience" ticket.

Gore/Clark would play to the "national security" crowd.

Gore/Kucinich, of course, would be my dream ticket, among those in the race.

Gore/Hillary? Not unless I'm personally running the Secret Service for the next 8 years!

Guess what genius, I dont like chimpy either. In fact, I vote exclusively 3rd party only. Wasting your votes on the two whored out assholes gets you what you've got now. It takes longer now to not choose a candidate if a 3rd party alternative isnt availabe. Thanks democrats of illinois! The BS computerized voting machines keep reminding you if you didnt make a choice in a race. No wonder the lemmings feel compelled to cast a vote no matter what. Michael Moore isn't even the "ultra leftist radical" that the right wing noise machine pretends he is.

He's a working class kid from Flint Michigan who witnessed corporatism turning his hometown to shit.

But this is a Gore thread. Not a Moore thread.

if we're talking strictly hypothetical here, then i'm going gore/mark warner (former VA governor, sorta/kinda/thought of a 2008 presidential run.)

warner brings the real possibility of flipping virginia from a red state (since LBJ) to blue in 2008. that's about as big of a help i can imagine.

of the other choices actually listed, i think gore/hagel's the best bet, because it has the chance of bringing in moderate republican voters.

Tipper was never trying to CENSOR music, period.

She wanted lyric sheets and parental advisory stickers, so parents could make informed choices.

NWA's "Straight Outa Compton" had one of those stickers. Didn't hurt the sales any, did it?

Same with Guns n Roses, who came out around the same time.

Not to mention any number of rap, metal, and punk bands since that have used the same stickers and sold millions of albums.

Fear Channel, the Chimp FCC and WalMart are the forces of actual censorship, and they're all self righteous Republicans.

ford, fear, fcc, and wallyworld's current policies are a direct result of al,tipper and the pmrc.
F-R-E-E-D-O-M this spells out freedom. it means nothing to me as long as there is a p.m.r.c.!!!!(hook in mouth-megadeth 1988,slighty paraphrased).
as for the parenting,i am a bit old fashioned in that sense. parents should just sit down with their kids and listen to what they are listening too. discuss it with them.this will make for a lot less tension between kid and parents. this is what my mom did with me. she even took me to many concerts. she did not necessarily like or enjoy a good number of the bands i listen to, but it was the point that she took the time to listen with me and try to be understanding. even if she did not like it.
she would just say"well son, i don't like it,but if you like it and it makes you happy, then it is ok by me" this tends to breed a lot less rebellion.
my dad on the other hand is alot more like the character mark metcalf played in twisted sister's "we're not gonna take it" video.
he was and still is an :asshole:
this is what breeds massive angst and rebellion.
hey,my mom likes cvh, took me to see them several times.she likes kiss, took me to see them too. so i have a cool mom. she rocks!!!!

For starters, having the PAL on your LP/CD became a status symbol, and increased sales....

since it was a congressional hearing i shall recite from the first amendment-"congress shall pass no law abridging the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and the freedom to request a redress of grievences"....i am probably not reciting that entirely corectly, however, tipper, and then senetor al,held congressional hearings. they wanted to put forth legislation to enforce censorship. now we all know dee snider saw fit that it failed miserably, and i am grateful to him. my whole point, lounge is that it was and still is deeply and personally insulting and i cannot forgive the gore's for it. i will hold it against them for eternity.

rating systems are a form of censorship. censorship is an abridgement of the 1st amendment.

congress does not have the right to even suggest, let alone attempt to impose warning label and rating systems on music, movies,or anything in print,as well as anything i say. even asking for it to be done volutarily is still congress violating the 1st amendment. more of that reagan era arm twisting crap.

no member of congress has that authority. the existence of the fcc is a violation of 1st amendment. the fcc are censorship watch dogs.the fcc agents are appointed by congress. the existence of the fcc is unconstitutional.censorship is unconstitutional. rating systems and PAL labels being "suggested volutarily" by congress is unconstitutional.

FORD
10-30-2007, 02:12 PM
What is being censored?

The FCC, under Chimpy, practices censorship because they now tell radio stations that they can't play songs with "fuck", "shit", or even "god damn" in them, even though these songs have been played on the radio for 20 or 30 years before these dominionist FUCKWADS took control of the government.

THAT is censorship.

But you can still buy the albums at any respectable record store, whether they have stickers or not. That isn't censorship, any more than kicking 12 year olds out of a porno movie is censorship.

in our home,my father was very strict. he made the rules and enforced them. his house, his rules. you broke his rules, you got your ass kicked. nowadays, the governments does not allow parents to do their job. these little ones today would not be so stupid and out of control here in california if the parents were still allowed to legally kick their kids ass. now, you can go to jail and lose your kids just for looking at them in any way they do not like. california is the land of the incredibly rediculious and the severely stupid.

my words are that parents are responsible for monitoring what their childrens are exposed to. it is not the gov't's responsibility to be the parent. if a parent does not want to expose their child to hard core porn,it is their job to keep their children away from it.

this may come as a surprise, lounge, but some parents actually allow their kids to have access to hard core porn.

For starters, having the PAL on your LP/CD became a status symbol, and increased sales....

And second, you obviously don't have kids.

But besides all that, denegrating a world-class human like Al Gore because you didnt like his wife putting stickers on your Twisted Sister LP is just fucking ridiculous.

Don't be a moron, please.

lounge,i am not trying to be a moron. to me as a musician, it is still deeply insulting. granted record sales increased because of it. as a matter of fact, my personal FUCK YOU to tipper gore is the fact that i have the PAL on my guitar strap. this considering i swear alot, and i go after chimpy and christains ruthlessly. that is the humor of the whole thing is that is blew up in tipper's face. it back fired big time.

since it was a congressional hearing i shall recite from the first amendment-"congress shall pass no law abridging the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and the freedom to request a redress of grievences"....i am probably not reciting that entirely corectly, however, tipper, and then senetor al,held congressional hearings. they wanted to put forth legislation to enforce censorship. now we all know dee snider saw fit that it failed miserably, and i am grateful to him. my whole point, lounge is that it was and still is deeply and personally insulting and i cannot forgive the gore's for it. i will hold it against them for eternity.

just the fact that congress got involved in trying to violate the constitutional rights of all americans is insulting.

You cannot yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater...

And you cannot expose children to porn, even if you're their parents.

But someone disagrees with me.

Mr. Combat Ready is one of those weekend "survivalists" that has the beat up bronco with the camoflauge paint scheme {LOL} and the 40 cases of dried soup packets in his shed.

Rails about the gum'ent while shooting his guns into the air near his trailer and bitches about them city folk and their BMW's....

Meanwhile, he collect his 26 weeks of unemployment every year, rushes to Liberty Tax Service for the Refund Anticipation Loans every January, and has every issue of Guns and Ammo and Mercenary Monthly spread out on the floor.

Makes the trek to Hayden Lake when he can, talks about forming a militia, and thinks he'll survive any nuclear blast up there in the hills.

A real loner. he don't need no stinkin' government.

if a parent does not want their child to have access to that stuff,it is their job to inspect the things that their child is exposed to and permitted to see, hear and have.

So if every 8 year old has the constitutional right to view porn according to you, then it must also be their First Amendment Right to BE IN porn as well.

After all, according to you, the government has no right to say otherwise, it's the parent's responsiblity to keep them out of porn.

You're saying it's a child's first amendment right to be in porn.

they tried to take away the first amendment from everybody. i know they lost, but that's not the point. the point is as i am a heavy metal musician and a natural born american citizen, nobody has the right to tell me i have to censor my lyrics.period. these two tried to do just that to many great bands we all love and respect.

i would prefer these two were handed over to a firing squad asap.

al and tipper gore are the lowest pieces of shit.

lounge responded:
Oh, STFU already...

Nobody tried to take away the First Amendment.

Don't be a moron, please.

i responded:

lounge,i am not trying to be a moron. to me as a musician, it is still deeply insulting. granted record sales increased because of it. as a matter of fact, my personal FUCK YOU to tipper gore is the fact that i have the PAL on my guitar strap. this considering i swear alot, and i go after chimpy and christains ruthlessly. that is the humor of the whole thing is that is blew up in tipper's face. it back fired big time.

since it was a congressional hearing i shall recite from the first amendment-"congress shall pass no law abridging the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and the freedom to request a redress of grievences"....i am probably not reciting that entirely corectly, however, tipper, and then senetor al,held congressional hearings. they wanted to put forth legislation to enforce censorship. now we all know dee snider saw fit that it failed miserably, and i am grateful to him. my whole point, lounge is that it was and still is deeply and personally insulting and i cannot forgive the gore's for it. i will hold it against them for eternity.

just the fact that congress got involved in trying to violate the constitutional rights of all americans is insulting.

lounge, this is my personal opinion. right or wrong, this is where i stand with regards to al and tipper gore. i will never vote fore them.
i hate them.they are stupid morons. they have no spine.

lounge, i don't like it one bit, but yes they do.
things have changed since we were kids.
as i recall, in those days, children were the property of their parents.
in our home,my father was very strict. he made the rules and enforced them. his house, his rules. you broke his rules, you got your ass kicked. nowadays, the governments does not allow parents to do their job. these little ones today would not be so stupid and out of control here in california if the parents were still allowed to legally kick their kids ass. now, you can go to jail and lose your kids just for looking at them in any way they do not like. california is the land of the incredibly rediculious and the severely stupid.
minors had no rights until 1993 or 1994. things in this respect have become extremely liberalized. be it right or wrong, the damage has been done.
