I need some advice here. I have a 2004 tele custom that I just changed necks on. I need to slightly shim the neck since the bridge end is sitting a bit high. Has anyone ever shimmed a neck and if so what did you use? I was thinking of very thin balsa since it will compress a bit. Any advice is appreciated. It's a 4 bolt neck and I need to bring the head end up a bit.

so, your action is too low then? ya, very thin wood would work. put it on the end of the neck pocket closest to your headstock. that should tilt the neck back close to level. just got to play around with it

I've heard of people using thin guitar picks. A folded piece of sandpaper could also work. A little shim goes a long way.

I actually just used a little piece of foam that came with a phaser I just bought. It worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice guys.
