Jimmy Page blasts Led Zeppelin Live Aid reunion

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page has blasted the first reunion show the band gave together--at the original Live Aid in 1985.

Speaking ahead of the band's latest reunion on December 10 at the O2 Arena in London, the guitarist admitted that the band's brief reunion at the charity concert at Philadelphia was a disaster.

"Live Aid was pretty shambolic," he told BBC News. "We came together and rehearsed with a drummer we'd never met before and then we were joined by Phil Collins, who we'd never played with before, on this great Live Aid stage."

He added: "We went there with the spirit of it, but actually it was pretty shambolic."

The band even refused to allow their performance to be included on the Live Aid DVD release in 2004, making a charitable donation instead.

Yeah, it seems most of their post-mortem Bonham reunions have been plagued by problems of some sort...

At 1988's Atlantic Music birthday bash, the idiot in the control room forgot to turn up Jones' keys...

Jimmi looks quite good in that interview though...

I wish they would do an MTV unplugged show.

Led Zeppelin III is their best album. I know I will get a lot of crap for this one!

Page and Plant already did an 'unplugged' thing in '94 -- "Unledded".

Yeah...I wish they wouldn't have done the songs the way they were recorded and not changed them up so much.

Didn't much care for the way Page was harping on about how great the band were playing on those TSRTS 1973 Madison Square Garden performances in his latest Guitar World interview...I wouldn't agree with those who say TSRTS was an abysmal performance (or edited series of performances), but it was hardly Led Zeppelin at their shit-hot best live...

Thirty-plus years of distance hasn't made the stuff sound any better in retrospect.

And it's not exactly a news flash that the 1985 Live Aid reunion was shambolic, either.

Right on brother.Live aid sucked for them because Page looked like was going to hurl and Plant could not hit one high note.

And Phil Collins didn't have a fucking clue how to play drums on the songs.

Tony Thompson did a better job, but they should have thrown Phil's bald ass off the stage. He was just trying to grab all the glory, playing with whoever he could on both sides of the pond.

I wonder how much rehearsal these guys have done. I would venture to say that the previous ones were kind of like, "yeah we'll play" and then they decided what to play minutes before going onstage. :D I really hope they just come out and rip fuckin' ass. Hey! Maybe Jimmy will wear the sweater from the '70 Royal Albert Hall performance. :D

I really think that Page, Jonesy, and Jason will play well, but I do worry about Percy's voice. If only he could belt it out like he did on the first albums...sometimes you hear a ghost of that voice out of him, but it is only for a passing moment.

If Pagey does a note perfect "Stairway" Solo live, thats
worth every moment of this whole concert..
That would get the chills going big time with this
punter !

I saw some footage of Plant at a country/folk festival a couple of nights ago and it blew may away. He may not sound like he used to but it still fuckin' rocked.

A full Led Zep tour would be insane! They really should do it...

I think I should clarify my earlier post about Robert's voice. I in no way think his voice sucks, I just mean he sounds and sings so differently now than he did back then. If he delivers like he did on the Page/Plant tours then I'll be happy.
