A kiwi is any of the species of flightless birds endemic to New Zealand of the genus Apteryx (the only genus in family Apterygidae). At around the size of a domestic chicken, kiwi are by far the smallest living ratites. Most kiwi species are endangered. The kiwi is also a national symbol of New Zealand.

1) No You Can't Keep A Kiwi As A Pet.

2) There Are Many Rat/Dog And Cat Free Islands In New Zealand That The Kiwi Live On.

3) No Odd Pets That Can Cause Problems To The Wild Life Of N.Z.

I love the wildlife from your part of the world. Marsupials are facinating, platypus and koalas.

The sea is even more so and your especially diverse in my favorite wildlife sharks. Must visit sometime.

p.s. Are all kiwi nocturnal?

Knew koala is Aussie only but thought platypus/wallaby/roo and varried oppossum were found in both countries.
