thats joey hunting, his twin brother jamie hunting co wrote a song or 2 on 'your filthy little mouth' i know this info from my friend terry kilgore who wrote most of 'your filthy little mouth' and you can see the credit on the album list.

terry owned another variac given to him by eddie but it was a staco variac.

I have no idea but check out that faded Marshall head on the stage. That same amp from the show pictured in the Ebay auction later found it's way into Eddie's stage rig on the 5150 tour.

It's actually a 0-120 volt 6 amp bench variac. Radio Shack and such places used to sell them because they are used to slowly bring electronic equipment to working voltage. If something burns or shorts out, the knob can be dialed to zero in a hurry.

Those old variacs can be a shock hazzard because they aren't isolated from the line voltage and that one probably wasn't even grounded. No way in hell would I hook my amp into it without using an isolation transformer and a ground.

Are you saying you believe this ebay listing is genuine ?

I could dig out an old variac that cost me $50 and
claim that EVH used it on tour and ask for several
thousand bucks too !

go over to the metro amp forum and check the tread on this variac.

terry kilgore (aka tube tramp) responds about this variac.

eddie has a lot friends who wound up with some of his old gear and joey hunting is one of them.

apparently joey is a damn good eddie clone on guitar too (according to terry).

Well Fuck...

You give this cred DD

I still wouldnt pay over $2k for an adjustable transformer,
even if Jesus used it on the Romans !!

I think the Fender Frankie replicas should be around this price range.

panamark bro, i agree about the price on this variac but hey you never know what some of eds gear will be worth some day either.

terry tells me eddie mainly used staco variacs and terry had one of his main ones for years (shit terry recorded at 5150 in 86,ed produced).

also agree on the frankie repros and i am hoping theres gonna be a much more affordable version of the frankenstein, but i want to see a white with black stripes version like on the 78 tour.

btw, eddie played a beautiful black strat with white stripes at the des moines show, single pickup.

Strats are sexy. Wolfgangs are about as sexy as the fat kid they are named after.

Go to www.musikraft.com price it out (if you want a Charvel strat replica simliar to that - not sure about the Aussie to US dollar thing) could be do-able...;)

Hell, I'm looking at one right now I need to get done...lol

http://e.photos.cx/testfit12-16a-e4c.jpg

I also am getting the itch to redo this
http://g.photos.cx/Voyagerbodysm-b8.jpg

was my high-school sweetheart if ya will
But I'd like to redo her in a quasi-Shark motif (let's face it , both the Kramer Voyager and the Charvel Star were no doubt inspired by the Shark), no stripes, but Explorer headstock, same vibe...maybe different color?

5150 !!!

Is that a deliberate joke ???

Man, thats almost getting to the worth considering range.

If he changed it to $1984... I would buy this...

Thinkin about it now.. An original Eddie B&W strat that
he actually used on this historic tour..

Fook, Im almost tempted......

Talk about the ultimate Shwag, that's really impressive. I wonder how many were made . You'd think they'd mention that.

btw.... just for the record here that photo is the okc gig. That was the only one I got of that guitar ..... would be a hard call between that and the rising sun charvel.

You guys have excellent taste. :p Thanks for the posts.

I actually think Ed would make more money if he made some real players with the paintjob that sold for $700. He would sell a shitload. I would think the revenue would be higher on the volume than price gouging for overpriced collectables.

I think they are using the KISS model. A lot of the old KISS fans have grown up and turned into doctors and lawyers and such, and have a lot of discretionary income. I think the same holds true for VH. These guys have a lot of dough and throw it at "momentoes" like the over priced guitars

Part of me also remembers Ed never wanted anyone to have his gear. I believe that is why the b/w Frankie turned red. Others were copying it so he added red to make it different. I think too that they may have jacked the price up so fewer would have it, and punish the ones who did.

Panamark

indeedido, you are so right. I've actually been contemplating buying
that B&W strat for $5150... Older, more money, more mental...

Maybe Eddie should do a "Squire" range and attack both markets ???

Don't know if anyone was watching, but the ebay auction of 6 of the guitars ended yesterday morning. All from the okc, san antone, and dallas gigs.

The vh08 was running second to a red one (the ugliest of all) used on Ed's b-day. It said "My Birthday" on it, probably the reason. Then in the last hour the b&w vh08 went to 8 , then 11 , then $25,100 was the last bid I saw.

My favorite though was the red/black rising sun. It hung back at 7,100, then went up a grand at the end. When I saw it at the show I thought , " this is his new signature guitar."

It turns out it was the newest in the series of the ones sold. Also was the only page I recovered.
