Less than 3% alcohol per volume and low carbs..
That would be good !

Try Michelob ultra. Low carbs but alcohol is about 5%.

One trick to avoid the bloating when drinking alchool... drink shit loads of water while doing it!

I hate beer so I can't advise you there but I make a 0 Carb. cocktail...

Poor Vodka over ice, add some lemon juice cut it with a clear diet soda (such as 7 UP).
Drink with a straw...

No carb. and it's good to digest, after a big meal!

Ho and LOUNGE... we have Absolute Mandarine now!

I've had more than one person tell me that Guinness has less calories than Michelob Ultra.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I was contemplating Michelob ultra
as they sell it on Oz now, bu we have some low carb Australian beers
with less alcohol. blonddgirl777, I love vodka based drinks, but
in Australia when we drink its an all day affair, and whenever I
get into the vodka, LOOKOUT !! But I agree its a great non
bloating spirit... diamondD that is a surprise about Guiness ???
Problem is I find the stouts to be really heavy to drink, more
like a liquid food. I couldnt swill them down at a BBQ.

Reason I raised this question was I switched to Ultra Blonde
Low Carb for a week, and noticed a real weight loss.
(Not that Im overweight) Im probably 5kg over my perfect
weight, (Not sure what that is in pounds).
Problem is, all the low car beers Ive tried so far have been
almost full strength, so you end up drunker with less
weight loss. I love the Fosters Light Ice which is only 2.7%
alcohol for day sessions (BBQ's) but I've realized they
are chock full of carbs and calories...

One I did see on the net was Amstel Light... Anyone tried
this ?? Made by Heinekin. I dont like Heinekin much...

O.K., now I remember this...
When in Belgium with my husband, we HAD TO the tout of microbrewries and beer pubs... you know...
Good thing I hate beer because I was pregnant.

Anyway... I found this kind of beer called a "Crique". It has less alchool (the one I had was about 1%) and tasted very good. No bloating, burping and nose hitch...

I liked it because they had different flavors; rasberry, blueberry, cassis... MMmmmm...

Apparently we have it here and it is sold almost everywhere;

Here's a link for a chart compairing carbs, alcohol and such.
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art14302.asp

Amstel light is not bad but it's not gonna replace a good beer as far as taste.

BG777, that link doesnt seem to work ? I think 1% alcohol would
be a bit extreme for me... lol.. I still want some alcohol there,
just not full strength... But I have never heard of this Crique stuff
before ?? Fruity Beer ! I reckon Chicks would love that more than
blokes..

Thanks for the chart KK, I think Im gonna try some of that
Amstel Light (when I can find it) that seems to be a good
combination of low alcohol, calories and carbs..

DAN THE MAN !!

We used to brew our own beer, my old man made this one
batch that was incredible. You were legless after two glasses,
he thinks he over did the sugar as a lot of bottles exploded,
but the survivors were something else !! All my relatives
were begging him to make more, but I reckon he just fluked
it one night.. He was probably half pissed when he was making
it !!! LOL...
I think we ended up with about 3 dozen 750ml (fullsize)
bottles, they ended up being very sought after !! hehehehe

I worked with a bloke in QLD that constantly brewed, at any one
time he had about a six month supply !! Reckons at the time
it cost him about 12 cents a bottle to make.. Good drop too !
Dunno how cheap it is now, that was about 15 years ago..

Sorry but I can't get that link to work either (anymore)...
Anyway, it was in French.
A crique is not really a beer... it usually has 4.5% and for sure, a women's beverage (due to the fruity thing). Not a bloque nor a frog will fully be satisfied on it! L.O.L.

But I just looked up in our frig. and saw that white beer my husband drinks casually because of it's lighness. It's called "Cheval Blanc". Apparently, we have a whole bunch of those beers (as well as the real strong stuff) but I don't know if you can get it down under?

One thing I heard from every beer drinker I know is that light, low alchool beers are never as good as the usual ones...
I just think that deep inside, they all like to catch "that little buzz"...:p

Maybe the alchool itself is what makes a beer good? I don't know...

Because when pregnant, I was sadly deprived of red wine. So I tried all kinds of non-alchoolic wines only to realize that calling those beverages "wine" was just an insult!

And what if you cut it (any beer) with water?
Maybe it wouldn't alter the taste, so you could... drink it like water!

BG777

We have some really fine light beers here, around the
2.7 - 2.9 % alcohol per volume range..
The more Im reading about it, lower alcohol is just
as effetive as the lower carbs/calories..
Im drinking a light beer right now, and its awesome,
tastes like full strength and just enough alcohol to
tickle those deprived little braincells (bless their hearts !)

I dont think I would put water in light beer as I think beer
is 90% water anyways... One of the upsides of drinking
beer is flushing out the kidneys, apparently
beer drinkers have less kidney stones!
I've seen people pass stones and it didnt
look like much fun at all..

:p

I think everyone wants that buzz you refer too..
But I can handle a slow onset as opposed to
slamming it on, now I've hit the big 4-0

Cheers,

-Mark
