For years I've always neglected this album and just listened to Rock Brigade, Hello America, and Wasted. But good lord after putting a few tracks from the album on to my iPod this album is a fucking great debut. It Don't Matter is probably one of the best songs I've heard by Def Leppard. Anyone have thoughts on this album?

I thought Def Lep was great up until (and including)
Pyromania.. All albums up to that point were good stuff........

Used to cover Wasted.

That was it though.

Pyromania.

There were more assholes with union jack shirts in '83 than I care to
remember.

Pyromania was the last of their original sound
and the beginning of the crap....

Yet I still like it...

This was a great album. All of them through Pyromanie were great. Hysteria was good, although I'd be happy if I NEVER heard "Pour Some Sugar On Me" again...

Then it all went horribly wrong....

Good call, Thrills. High 'N' Dry remains in my top 10 favorite albums to this day. Sick to think thier average around this time was like 18.

The album cover is one of my favorites. The giant guitar on the back of that truck. Got it framed on my wall.

The vocals and the overall production were not the greatest but not a bad song on the entire album...

I've played it for several so called Def Leppard fans over the years who never neard a single track...LMAO!

Sorrow Is A Woman, It Don't Matter, Answer To The Master, and ummm... yeah, Satellite. All great songs...

And most of the dickhead so called "fans" didn't like any of it...

Pete Willis was, and still is an inspiration every time I put the CD on...

I thought Pyromania sucked, and generally still do, but you could still hear Pete's influence on the better tracks...

You don't know shit!

It's a normal size guitar on a minature truck!

Does not really matter to me what size the guitar is on the cover , or the truck for that matter. I think it's a cool album cover and thats why it's on my wall along with a few more albums.

Classic CD. I like "High and Dry" better though, it's raw an rockin'! "Hysteria" is still my all-time fav CD of any band.

You knew they were destined for greatness when Mutt Lange made 'em sound like AC/DC. After that, the shit got over-produced and broke the bank!

High and Dry was a good album to do black tar heroin to in my adolescent years.

How many of you hear that intro (excuse my spelling here
as I have no idea what language it is)

Oonta Gleban glouten globan etc etc and think, COOL ROCK OF AGES IS COMING ON !!!!

Only to be let down by "Pretty Fly for a white guy" lol....

The offspring have never been backward at borrowing,
thats for sure...

Yeah, you gotta keep 'em separated! :p

That reminds me of a similar situation today-

I don't know who they are or what song it is, but they're new.

The intro sounds almost exactly like Alice Cooper's "Elected" intro.
Let down every time.:(

Oh well...

Somebody expecting "Dolly Dagger" might have been pissed at Alice, too!:p

If you think the whole "Hysteria" CD is not a classic, then you must not like rock...

Pete Willis, he was good. But he was too drunk to play anything on "Pyro" he was a tool!

Steve Clark is much better than Pete Willis, as much As I like Def Leppard, they kinda died when Steve did. And Phil is a great guitar player.

Plus Jimi, we are talking about Def Lep here, and you brought in VH to this and compared them, WTF???. That was not the topic here!

Back when Def Lep was a great band! They used to make some asskicking music and awesome album covers. How times have changed...

Anyone seen the gay title and cover of their new album coming out in late April? Here...

Did I mention it had an incredibly GAY title?

Sounds like the title of a Liberace album, doesn't it?

To say "Pyro" and "Hysteria" are crap....you people need a lesson in rock music. It's great stuff...I could care less if anyone thinks whatever....

It's just good stuff...

I'm a huge fan of Pyro, Hysteria, and Adrenalize, Nate. Especially of the way Phil plays on Adrenalize.
