OMG! this is a 21st Century Bad Company.
Queen?
Hmmmm I think Brian May & Roger Taylor should be prosecuted under the trades descriptions act for masquerading under the name Queen.
Half way decent though 6/10 (But a long way from being a 'classic')

Well, it's more interesting than Velveeta Revolver...
But it's not really Queen, though they do qualify it with the "Queen with Paul Rodgers" preface...

Queen? Not even remotely close. Paul Rodgers? Bad Co. did pretty much the same thing with twice the enthusiasm. As The Taylor, May, Rodgers project? A few talanted old dudes just goin' thru the motions, Not groundbreaking, nor outright horrible. It'll pass........ It's been done much better before by all three guys. Just take the Queen name off of it because without John Deacon and with no Freddie, Queen it isn't!
It's not rooting for them to fail so much as just rooting for the better team. The new config has a lot to live up to, so it should take the legendary name off the marquee and let this band stand on its own. For that matter, so many people on this very forum piss and moan about the least important member of a certain band being gone. I'm just sayin'...........................

Not bad.
Give it 7/10 after one time around the block with it.

That about sums it up. However, with their legacies they could turn out utter shit for the next ten years and it wouldn't matter. Once you've achieved what Queen/Free/ Bad. Co. achieved, anything else is a cherry on a very big cake.

Watching that for the thrid time, I have a couple of points:
1) Al Murray is possibly the least funny comic out there. He only has one joke.
2) 'C-Lebrity' does indeed have a bitch of a riff, although I'm not sold on the chorus - sorry Shaun.
3) 'All Right Now' is one of THE great rock songs. I challenge you not to smile when that riff first kicks in. If only I had a voice like Paul Rogers....

Did not sound Queenish at all to me..
Not a bad song though. Perhaps they want to get
away from their signature sound ??

They'll have too: no Freddy, no trademark sound. That's not to play down the talent of the other guys in the band, but when you lose a singer you lose a key part of your sounds that's harder to replace than a bassplayer, for instance :D
When that singer happens to be Mercury, you'll never sound the same.

You couldnt see rodgers do "Hammer Fall" and stuff in that
venacular ??
I'll probably get flamed for this, but I dont think he is the right
choice for vocalist. He doesnt look like he belongs, and his
vocal style really isnt what Queen need. Its almost like
watching (do I dare say it) Hagar singing in front of Van Halen...
But all the best to them, hope they do well....

I hear ya 'Mark. I think that Queen made a decision not to work with a Freddie-clone, to try and do something new, to move on. I respect them for that, as a Freddie-clone would just lead to self-parody.
But I agree, Paul is an awesome blues-vocalist, but I can't imagine him having the range to do a lot of the older stuff. Might be wrong though...

If you guys wanna an idea of who they could've used as a front man, check out the Freddy Mercury DVD they did back in 92 in Wimbly stadium. They had Axle Rose, Roger Daltry, James Hetfield, and who can leave out Gary "Gay" Cherone. His band extreme did a whole medley on Queens which sounded quite good.
I still have the VHS tape I recorded it on when it came out on MTV. Axle did a duet with Elton John on Bohemian Rhapsody...let's just say he kept a watchful eye on Eltons hands throughout the song.

Didn't the Queen leftovers do some shows with other singers.
I know they did something with George Micheal.
Seems like someone else did some shows with them.

I've just got this mental pic of some old drunk who hasnt had
a shower since 75, having GM make a pass at him, and thinking,
hmmmm.... Hey, Im not a poofter !!! Oh, its George Michael,
better unstick my weiner from the matted pubic cheese bush and
give him what he wants, "he's famous ya know !!"
Now This Thread Is Turning All Gay On Me Now.:D
George Michael was really the best vocal match for them at the tribute concert, but he's not a rock singer. George could have handled Freddie's mellower and campy stuff, but picturing him attempting "Stone Cold Crazy" or the end part of "Bohemian Rhapsody" (to name two examples) would have been about as painful as hearing Hagar screech his way through "Unchained" http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/ekelig/e025.gif

nice...not too strong but grows stronger the more you listen to it...
Ok, now that I finally got the clip to play, here's my review.....
Better than most of the shit on the radio. Better than most of "The Firm" and ANY attempt at "Bad Company" without Rodgers, which brings me to the obvious point.....
This song proves exactly how important the singer IS in a rock band, regardless of the talent of any or all of the other band members.
Bad Company never really existed without Paul Rodgers, and Queen will never really exist without Freddie Mercury.
They seemed to approach the creation of this song as a "new band", which is a good thing, but they need to make that official and drop the name "Queen" for good.
They could still play some Queen songs live, as well as Bad Company & Free songs (as they did on their last tour) but provide a legitimate context for the band that exists now, and the new music they create together.

FORD speaketh the truth, tis this is not Queen...
But its tasty Rock, a new band.
Honestly I cant think of too many of the Queen classics
that Rodgers style would do justice too..
He has his own excellent style, and thats it.
But dont call it Queen.
