Judging by it's political alignment, I'd say America DOES repeat itself every 20 years or so.
Maybe it's a short memory, or wishful thinking, but it seems the Repubs get a shot for a while, screw things up unbelievably during their stint, then America changes direction by voting Dem.

Chasing it's tail.

Congrats to Obama, I hope he does as good a job as he has promised. This year was my first Presidential election to vote in, I couldn't decide, so I voted for Bob Barr in hopes of a 3rd party getting some sort of recognition.

It might have. There were a couple weeks on those electoral vote maps that Texas was practically a dead heat.

I remember that. I was pretty happy about it. I think most states could more bipartisanship.

The good thing about Texas, though, is that we are one of the few places in the country that hasn't felt much of the recession. We have maintained a budget surplus throughout these times.

Probably because the only companies making a profit this decade are based in Texas?

The oil industry, Halliburton, various "defense" industries, etc.

sounds like it would be right, but in actuality, it is due to the state constitution forcing the state to always have a balanced budget, and low spending. The oil business in Texas only generates about 3% of the state revenue. Cattle is more profitable.

oh the joy of state government classes.
