Pilot killed as plane crashes in Lake Twp.

LAKE TWP.: A single-prop, private airplane crashed next to a vacant house on Charolais Street Northwest Friday evening, exploding into flames and killing the pilot.

Michael Connell, 45, of Bath Township, was alone in the plane, according to State Highway Patrol Lt. Eric Sheppard.

Connell was a prominent Republican political consultant. He founded New Media Communications in Richfield, which developed campaign Web sites for Republican presidential candidate John McCain and President George W. Bush.

The plane was attempting to land around 6 p.m. Friday at Akron-Canton Airport when it crashed about three miles short of the runway.

Taylor Fano, who lives two doors away from the crash site on Charolais, said she heard the crash.

''It blew up and shook the ground a little bit,'' Fano said. ''I was standing in the kitchen and I looked out the window and all I saw was fire.''

Fano said the plane came down in the front yard at 2017 Charolais, then skidded along the side of the house.

The plane came down between two houses, separated by about 100 feet, in the upscale neighborhood. Neighbors said one of the homes was unoccupied, while the other was lighted with holiday decorations.

They said wreckage from the plane could be seen sticking up from the ground.

''It took out the flagpole and the cement blocks surrounding the flagpole like a little planter,'' Fano said. ''It skidded across the driveway and right in between a line of pine trees and a small fence around an in-ground pool.''

Neighbor Julie Hufstetler, who lives across the street from the crash site, said she was getting ready for a party at their home when she heard the explosion.

''It was kind of a swish and a boom,'' she said.

When she looked outside, she saw flames billowing from the garage.

Greentown Fire Department Capt. Lorin Geiser said he arrived within three minutes of getting several 911 calls about a plane down.

Geiser said the crumbled fuselage from the plane was fully engulfed. It took less than five minutes to extinguish the flames.

The burning debris apparently set fire to the side of the garage of the unoccupied home.

There was no interior damage to the house.

Several neighbors, bundled up against the frigid temperature, were walking around taking pictures with their cell-phone cameras.

The plane was on final approach to Akron-Canton Airport's Runway 23 when it went down, said Kristie Van Auken, spokeswoman for the airport.

Van Auken identified the plane as a Piper Saratoga, a single-engine propeller craft capable of carrying up to seven passengers.

The plane, which was made in 1997, is owned by a Richfield corporation, Sierra-November Aviation, at 3046 Brecksville Road, according to the Federal Aviation Administration registry.

FlightAware, a Web site that tracks flight plans, reported that the plane was coming from College Park, Md., departing at 3:31 p.m. and scheduled to arrive at Akron-Canton at 5:43 p.m.

The plane had flown from Akron to College Park Thursday morning.

Van Auken didn't think the plane was based at the Akron-Canton Airport, but added, ''We can't verify that at this time.''

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board were expected at the crash site Friday night. An FAA spokeswoman said investigations typically take weeks and even months or longer to complete.

In addition to the Greentown Fire Department, others responding included firefighters from Hartville, Uniontown, Plain Township and North Canton.

Van Auken said several members of the airport operations staff were also at the crash scene.

Connell was killed in the crash and is reported to have been the only person on board. There are no reports of anyone on the ground being hurt, though his plane crashed in a residential neighborhood.

Connell is a familiar name to readers of <a href="http://bradblog.com" target="_blank">The BRAD BLOG</a> [3] as a key witness in the King-Lincoln v. Blackwell lawsuit regarding fraud in the 2004 Presidential Election in Ohio. That <a href="http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6189" target="_blank">recently revived</a> [4], long-standing lawsuit led to Connell's <a href="http://www.velvetrevolution.us/prosecute_rove/" target="_blank">recent deposition</a> [5] on November 3, 2008, the day before this year's general election. According to plaintiff's lead attorney Cliff Arnebeck in July, a tipster had warned that Connell had been threatened by Karl Rove, as <a href="http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6214" target="_blank">The BRAD BLOG reported at the time</a> [6], in an attempt to intimidate him into "taking the fall" for Ohio election fraud not long after a motion was filed to lift the stay in that case.

Connell had been memorably described as a "high IQ Forrest Gump", by the attorneys for the plaintiffs in the Ohio fraud case, for his apparent penchant at the scene of "every single crime" from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004 to the network firewall on a number of key Congressional committees to the case of the missing White House emails. Connell had been served with a subpoena to appear in the federal courtroom in Ohio at the same College Park, MD airport where his single engine plane reportedly took off from last night, on his final solo flight...

I live Akron-Canton, I have friends in Stark...I drive near diebold world head quarters sometimes (which is out by the airpost and wide out in the open.), I used to go to school with kids who's dad worked for "evil old diebold".

FORD there is no BCE, otherwise they would not have let Obama kick their asses this past election day, or they would have dug up better dirt than "OHH! listen to his racist pastor". Unless Obama and the democratic congress are a part of the BCE as well. In that case Ron Paul 2012 :rolleyes:

I think that may be the case sheep.Heck, if the guys going to do some time, that would leave his family without any cash, therefore if he has a life insurance policy that's worth a lot.

It's true that Pelosi and Reid are worthless, spineless cowards, and if the Democrats had any sense, they would ensure that they are NOT still in their "leadership" (or lack of it) chairs as of January 6.

Don Siegelman, on the other hand, is completely serious. He actually did time in prison because of Rove and the BCE even though he wasn't guilty of shit. And having someone like Connell on the inside of the scam who was willing to talk would have been an excellent assett. I have no doubt that Rove would have been put away if not Chimp and Cheney themselves. :(

In theory, Presidential pardons were a good idea (and a holdover from the old British days) because there are people who are wrongly convicted of crimes (as Don Siegelman was, or Leonard Peltier). Unfortunately the privilege has been horribly abused by the last several Presidents, and in the case of BCE presidents, it's been specifically to cover their own criminal asses. Or the ridiculous Mark Rich pardon by Clinton, as a favor to some big time Israeli campaign donors.

I'd like to see the law at least modified so that the President cannot pardon anybody with any known ties to his own administration.

Here's the report from the Cleveland CBS affiliate. They go so far as to actually report on the possibility of foul play and possible threats from Karl Rove.

According to them Bill Cowher already bought a house in Strongsville,Ohio back in October, so he can coach the Browns :rolleyes:. Wake me when you get a more reliable source.

Like Connell, he was an experienced pilot. He was also the guy who bankrolled Chimpy's first company "Arbusto Oil" which evolved into "Harken Energy" And the feds were investigating Harken's ties to BCCI bank and the funding of the Iran Contra clusterfuck, right around the time Poppy Bush was running for President in 1988.

Salem's plane took an unexpected hard right turn into some high voltage power lines. The plane got fried and Osama's big bro fell out and busted his head open like a melon on the ground, killing him instantly. And conveniently, before he could talk to the US government.
