View Full Version : So what reunions have actually worked?

In the light (ha!) of the "Led Zeppelin" (if that`s what you can call it) rumours, has any reunion ever reached the heights of a bands original run?

In terms of being creative, as Kiss and Black Sabbath, to name but two, easily sold more tickets on their reunions but did fuck all musically.

Shit, every band you can think of, except classic Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, have reunited, surely some have done something worth talking about?

Hmm...Does Neil Young and Crazy Horse count?

"Ragged glory" was pretty good.

The RJD reunion with Sabbath in 2007 was fucking stellar live.

Iron Maiden and Judas Priest have made good albums. Well, Nostradamus sucked balls but Angel of Retribution was good.

I'd have to say personally the KISS reunion was fabulous... For whatever reason I never got a chance to see them in makeup the first time around, then when they reunited me and 8 of my buddies drove in a van 8 hours from Naples to Milan, Italy.... We really got shitfaced, but it was a great time...

Seeing the reunited Sabbath in concert was excellent as well....

I'd say The Police reunion was the best so far. Really enjoyed that show.

The Police concert was fucking awesome. The high point was Wrapped Around your Finger.

I saw the Police show in Seattle too. I was a bit concerned that it was going to suck after the first couple of songs, but they pulled it together and I ended up really enjoying it.

Is there some kind of leper colony in Seattle, or something?

Sorry dude, no. I heard there may be space at the facility on Molokai if you can't find anything closer.

Good luck,

Trust me, I wasn't offering my presence...it's too fucking cold there for me. And it's a little fucking grungy for my tastes. It just seems like everybody here is from Seattle.

Didn't they fuck up Synchronicity II early on in the show?

Just flipping some shit because Yakima is the taint of Washington.

Actually, I grew up in the valley and still have a lot of great friends there. Spent a lot of money at Off The Record and ate a lot of burgers & bag-o-fries from Kempers.

Well, that's fucked up. I wouldn't even drive through that place...not that I've ever even been there. :smilieci:

They probably would if one of them owned a fucking car.

They probably all live in the same basement...

For reunion concerts Van Halen(please no Mikey debates) the Police, Iron Maiden, and Kiss were great.

I'm hard pressed to think of a great reunion album.

You posted the first [unfunny] line....

And then 13 minutes later, the REAL zinger entered your feeble brain, and you just HAD it edit it in.

I can see it now

"oh, oh, oh....THIS one will get them but GOOD"

13 minutes, and that's the best you could muster?

The old "living in mom's basement" line?

Weak, even by Yakima Public School standards.

Ha ha! What can I say...it was a really slow night yesterday.

Come on! People living in basements are pretty fucking pathetic. Admit it. Ha.

In terms of new music, Iron Maiden have the only really succesful reunion I can think of.

However, I have high hopes for Heaven & Hell next year.....

Heaven and Hell

E Street Band (not everyone's thing, but the albums and tours they've done since the reunion have been very well received by both fans and critics)

Haven't we already had this topic?

Heaven and Hell

They cetainly put on a good show (although it wasn't loud enough), and as I stated enough I think the new material will be stellar - however, the tour didn't do good business in the UK and consequently perhaps it could not be viewed as a success?

^^^

Depends how you are viewing this.

Critical success or commercial success?

It was certainly a critical success...surely that counts for something?
