OK there is no "best way" but when one amp can do the job of 4 others (2 Marshalls, an Orange, and a Fender) such as this guy can do by simply channel switching, you might tell her "look I'm going to sell the other amps and keep just this one"

Or you might just tell her one word: Diezel!

okay then here's the original. Cuntpare!

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wEiyGgWt6no&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wEiyGgWt6no&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

My point is, why dick around with tubes, pedals, cords in-out of everything when all that prefiguring is done in one amp?

The Diezel guy's youtube page says he's using an RC treble boost pedal, and a delay.

Page used a stock JMP Marshall 100, a modded Plexi 100 with a treble boost, an Orange 120, and either a couple Fender Super reverbs as slaves or Sunn Concert solidstates plus 2 Echoplexes.

I like the clean channel of the Diezel over the Fender or Sunn, it's so sweet its unbelievable.

.. or maybe you show your gal a Youtube of the Zep reunion concert - with Page using 8 heads with 4 cabs:

4- Orange 120s'
2- Marshall JCM 100's
1- Marshall JMP 100
the one boosted Marshall Plexi 100

"See all Page needed was one of these to do the sounds of all those, Honey!"

Check the backline yourself: more iron, or more brains you decide - work harder with more amps, or work smarter with fewer but tighter amps? Oh, the quandry..

I'm wondering if the O2 concert backline wasn't a redundant setup, or a "doubling" of the amps in case one head went bad, due to the international sales of this event with people from all over the world?

Either that, or all four 4x12 cabs are being utilized in stereo operation. Another idea is Page is so old he can't bend over to operate the controls and needed the knobs higher, so there's a redundant row of amps to bring the line up a foot.

Man, nice amp but way overpriced.
I have some amps that I have been gassing for.. but they are 1/2 the price of that.

I think the best way to tell the wife you spent 4 grand on an amp is just to buy it and when she asks about it.. tell her it cost 4 grand.

I have the coolest wife when it comes to that. She wants me to have nice things and doesn't care how much I spend.
I know a few guys who can't buy anything without their wife bitching.
I work hard for a living and I want to be able to enjoy the disposable income that I have.
I think if it was any other way it wuld cause mariage problems for me.

I don't think that amp sounds very much like Page's sound when comparing these clips...

Wow,
Is that supposed to be Heather Locklear?

Jeesh dude, you gotta be desperate to fuck some plastic. There are plenty of average looking women out there that would do anything to be with a decent guy.

Excellent post ,I completely agree.

If a couple is just "getting by" and the guy goes and spends wads of dough on something that'll take food off the table or spend the rent/mortgage money
on stuff that is not an absolute nessesity than it is absolutely foolish should expect grief and anger from the Missus.
But for someone who works hard to have extra cash for such luxuries ,it's well deserved. To get grief over that would be all out war...
