The Faces, by at least a football field. They also covered Free's "The Stealer", "If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want to Be Right" (a hit for Luther Ingram), John Lennon's "Jealous Guy", Jimi Hendrix' "Angel" and the Temptations' "I Wish It Would Rain", all in versions that were equal to or surpassed the originals.

If you are unfamiliar with the band, this album is a great place to start, as it is simply one of the finest boxed sets ever assembled. The band's keyboard player Ian McLagan put it together while finishing off the remains of his liquor cabinet one night. And that is a terrific way to spend an evening listening to this music. :guzzle:

Great box set. Had to get that one the day it was released. Even if you own all the Faces studio albums there's still a lot material in the box that you won't find elsewhere.

Faces - all day long

Faces have 'soul' something that has eluded Macca throughout his career.

I'm guessing Linda's mic wasn't switched on.

Nah you can hear her "Ahhhhhs" in the background. But I'd bet her keyboard wasn't plugged in.

Faces raise holy hell on their version. I like that one.

...and the Temptations' "I Wish It Would Rain"

correction, it's "(I know) I'm Losing You"

Which gives me the idea for a new poll!!

They actually did both. And they're both on the box set.

The studio version of McCartney's version is no where near as good as the live version he did with Wings. Someone should post it.

That's it on top. That was a good tour. Have a dvd of it. The guy with the S.G. is dead I think. forgot his name, It's not Denny Laine he is still around, Playing bass on this clip. Jimmy McCulloch I think. A great guitarist !! Rusty is good too in his newer band.

And in our "bring everything around full circle" department.....

After Jimmy McCullough left Wings in 1977, he joined the briefly reunited Small Faces. Steve Marriot, Ian McLagan, and Kenney Jones were back from the original lineup. I don't remember who played bass, since Ronnie Lane didn't come back.

It was a short lived reunion though, and by the summer of 1978 Mac was touring with The Stones, and in 1979, Kenney Jones became the first scab drummer for "The Who". And McCullough was dead soon after, I believe.
