I thought it was hilarious. It had to be a giant put on, as it seems unlikely that Letterman would have had the guy stick around for a second segment. Word has it that Phoenix' brother in-law is filming a bio-pic about the actor's adventures in hip-hop, and this may have been set up to be included in the film.

I was thinking something along those lines, when I initially watched this.......the fucker's a great actor, he could pull off an Andy Kaufman type thing....irony being, doing it on Letterman but......I watched his rap performance and if this is an Andy type hoax...ie...wrestling women transposed onto a rap performer......I gotta say, he fooled me.

Time will tell.......

I call bullshit on ol' Joaquin...

Jim Carrey pulled a similar stunt a few years back at the MTV Awards. Although I think it was a "one-off" for Jim...I don't think he carried it as long as this dipshit has.

'Retiring' from acting? What, was it too strenuous?

Haha!

You know, it appears that he was forced to do the press tour for this movie and he didn't want to...

Yeah, it must tough getting paid millions of dollars to answer questions about something you love doing.

I'll bet all of those folks who've lost their jobs are sat at home thinking "Man, I've got it tough, but at least it's not as bad as that guy. Having to answer a few questions about a work of art I've just made, boy that must really suck. "

I hear ya, Binnie...

It kinda reminds me of when Dave Chappelle disappeared for a while when he suddenly realized the fame and fortune were too much for him to handle.

Enjoy yourselves, bitches! It's a celebration!

He'll be back in acting when he discovers he's getting exactly 1/10th the quality of poontang with bad hip hop...

Bit of a shame if he did actually quit, as he's pretty much a giant among pygmies in terms of his acting talent vs. that of his contemporaries.

If it's part of a sardonic publicity stunt designed to demonstrate the silliness and gullible nature of the press and public, methinks the charade has jumped the shark.

Maybe he's just depressed about the way he portrayed Johnny Cash in Walk The Line.Kind of like Val Kilmer As Jim Morrison in The Doors. If those characters were even close to the real thing niether one of them was ever coherent enough to do jack shit.

Crazy, eh? It's like the boards have taken on a Tales From The Crypt motif as of late.

Robert Duvall was on Stern last week and said that it was all bullshit.

THAT would have been a cool interview. Robert Duvall on Stern? Duvall is a kickass fucking actor, and appears to have his head screwed on straight.

One of his most famous lines, from "True Grit":

"I CALL THE BOLD TALK FOR A ONE-EYED FAT MAN!!!"

Now this fucking sucks. I am going to make a post about this bullshit. The Coen Bros. are remaking True Grit.

Yeah, it was a great interview. He really is down to Earth. Must be friends with Stern, as he was a damn good sport and was giving it right back.
