I didn't like the looks of it till I put my palm edge down on it, now I kinda like it.

It has intonation sidescrews so it's pretty comfortable. But I dont' think it's a TonePros, considered the best in this type bridge amongst those who benchrace Les Paul TV's and Juniors.

Really, and what do you propose, pistols at dawn? I really do not know what to tell you, other than you were misinformed. I named my sources (several published reports), you claim to have met a fellow that told you some information. There is nothing more to be gained by getting into a pissing match, nor does the moderator of this forum want (rightly) to see one.

Enough.

It's all Eddies fault !
He started this trend...

I wonder what mindset the people have who actually buy these
special editions ? Do they think that the artist played each
one personally, or that they will be able to play like the artist if they buy one ??
I dont get it.. You can go to the local printers and get a nice sticker with
a name on it for a few bucks....

Fook that, I'll stick to the (no artist name attached) versions
of the same guitars...

Exactly, he's had and played a signature Strat for years...

This cash-grab Les Paul is most likely a piece of shit as are most Gibsons I pick up these days, Custom shop or not...

Some may play well, but the attention to detail is no better than Epiphone, which in many cases I find Epiphone to be of better quality...

I have a lefty Tony Iommi that plays beautifully, has nearly perfect frets, and the finish, thought not perfect, is pretty damn nice for a $400 guitar...

...Was glad to see them get away from the Lace-Sensor Pickups...and the neck shape got thinner over the years too. :)

:guitar:

Beck's classic "Blow by Blow"-era tone is also considered one of the greatest in rock, and he used the original version of that Les Paul to achieve it. Me, I'm not into the one-piece (seemingly non-adjustable) bridge/tail-piece.

Guy told me he had to go to England, where it was refinned by some local guitar tech dude, whom they couldn't find anymore. And no knowledge of the paint used, either. That had to be custom mixed to match.

I was really, really surprised to see that thing: one's distressed in the same places, 150 pieces, all presold at $20,000 list. The others are just like-new finish, but the paint is sort of de-glossed, like a satin finish as if it were aged and all the hardware is new. Otherwise it's stock-looking: $8,000 list on that.

I asked is there gonna be an Epi, he says there's only minor talk about it. That's Gib-speak for "it'll be here in the third year like anything else we do." So, hopefully before the Reptillians arrive with the Wormwood comet in 2012 we'll get an Epi JB Paul.

I won't own a Mexican or Import Fender due to the fact the parts aren't easily interchangeable. Useless to me. And I agree with DJ that Gibson has a long way to go in keeping up with Fender on the "firewood" releases...

Again, this is still HOW MUCH cheaper than an EVH relic? ;)

I like how one can cross international borders with cocaine in the chambered guitars as carryon luggage.

Sometimes you can even stow the guitar upfront in the pilot's cabin.. so I've heard. I wouldn't really know.. just sayin'..

Thee's nothing like a well made Stratocaster...

Well that's quite true, and you've really got a point there. However there's also nothing quite like a wellmade neckjoint guitar like a Gibson either, when it's done right.

They're two very distinct tones.

You can throw a pickup in a Strat to sound like a Gibson somewhat, but one thing the Gibsons and other glued-in necks can't do is that acoustical pickguard-cavity effect where the resonant body transfers vibration to the pickups in such a way as to detect certain string/finger nuances.

That's only done with acoustic, semi-acoustics or large chambered body styles like the Strat, its probably got the highest acoustical feedback ratio (if there is such a term) to electrical output characterisic of any guitar.

The larger the pickguard-mounted pickups style guitar, the grater this effect. But I must say my 83 flying V had this effect to a grate degree, the pickguard was huge!

"What on earth would make this Stratocaster clone worth well over a million dollars? As you can see in the pic above, the electric guitar was stuffed with lots of cocaine, that's what. We former musicians are well aware that the gigsters always have the best blow, but this guitar player went overboard when he decided to fly from Costa Rica to Rome with his drastically modified Squier ax in tow. Too bad The Man noticed a bit of telltale powdery residue poking out of a conspicuous spot on this git-box. We have another pic of the guitar before it was dismantled, looking perfectly innocent."

True. I own a '62 Re-issue Japanese Fender Strat that I'd put up against any USA Strat. Like Gibsons , each one is very different.
This Jap fucker I have sustains for days. I wouldn't trade it for any other Strat.
Story goes... a buddy of mine bought it new in the early 90's . Left it stock ,played it for a few years then only leave it lying around the studio for a few more. I found myself glued to this guitar every time I stopped by to hang out. It was light , sustained like nothing I'd played before and had a warm full tone. After pestering him to sell it he finally caved. Went to the ATM , grabbed $400. and the rest is history...

Strat bodies to me are like VW Bugs...no matter what color or design you slap on them, they still look cool. Very clean lines, smooth & silky. Les Paul is 2nd on my list, but they have a finer line between beautiful & ugly. No middle ground there really. I HATE all the thorny beast "look how metal I am" guitars....
