Here is the official statement:

Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat--its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile. Throughout our 17years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe.

Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right.

Meanwhile we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kickass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff....
BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.
Who know where this will end or what it will bring up...only the future knows. But we are about to find out!

FAITH NO MORE are:
Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Bill Gould, Jon Hudson and Mike Patton

Because they never cared much about him in the first place..

They're headlining a day at Donnington. If the tickets are reasonable, I may just go along.

Fuck, I hope they tour extensively. Without question, one of my favourite bands - they came completely from out of nowhere (sorry....)

I'll piss in it first.

Why on earth they've booked Limp Bizkit I'll never know - I doubt many of the metal kids dig 'em these days. That guy started a trend that gave us 5 years or so of awful 'metal'.

Because they never cared much about him in the first place..

He was a prick beyond belief.

I was at a show and before the encore he started trying to rip the piss out of the crowd for no reason. Went from a great atmosphere to 2500 people baying for blood.

Why all the hate?
FNM we're true innovators. Sure there was shit immitators like Gimp Biscuit.
But FNM wiggers? Puhleease...

FNM could write stuff that's bone crushing heavy see: "The gentle art of making enemies"
Or amazing mellow grooves like "Stripsearch" & "Evidence"

And for all the Jim Martin fans , I think he was a verrry average guitarist totally out of place visually and creatively. Listen to the playing post Martin ,Spruance & Hudson did some great and creative playing much more in tune with FNM's style...

JMO!;)

I think FNM influenced a bunch of shitty bands that came later that didn't realise the key was the great melodies and shades of light and dark.

I must admit I gave up on them after hearing that Angel Dust thing, too out there for me at the time. I think I'll go back and give it another chance.

I really wish Limp Biscuit did sound like early FNM because then I would have had some great music to listen to during all those barren years. :)

Unfortunately Limp Biscuit are entirely shit.

They were on the verge of being whiggers and mall metal but they had a style and originality that kept that from happening. My fave thing is still their cover of War Pigs.

Check "King for a Day", It's surely better than Angel Dust...It doesen't sound like their early stuff, but there's some interesting and cool heavy music there!!!

It did sound good, and to be honest they wrote some really good (and very inventive) music,
but I still think the singer was a whigger.

I saw them open for Metallica on the Justice tour,
and all he did was bop around the stage in a backwards baseball cap,
I couldn't even watch, I bailed untill 'Tallica came on.

Actually, I climbed up to the nosebleeds with my friends, extracted the now-very-flattened 1/2 ounce outta my shoe and started rolling many, many wonderful joints....

IT's IT...WHat is IT..IT's IT..
that was the best he could write for that song?

Fuck ME....that was a GREAT, well-written tune and even Hagar could've done better....now that's saying something.

and I have a live version of them doing War Pigs where he forgets the words and instead says BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH (literally)

Who the fuck doesn't know the words to War Pigs, unless you're a whigger who ain't into metal in the first place?

Hah. I always got the impression that if you were in a room with him for more than 5 minutes you would want to strangle him for being a too bouncy stupid annoying human puppy but there are a lot of Californians like that. :)

I admire him though because the story I heard was that all the music of the Real Thing album was written and recorded before he joined. He turned up and came up with all those melodies and sang them after the fact. If that's true then he's a talented guy.

As long as the contract stipulates no more Lionel Ritchie,
(as much as I like their version of Easy)

Just cant imagine them "Dancin on the Ceiling",
or singing Hello to a Blind Clay Moulding Sheila.....

To be honest, I liked that tune Break Stuff, 'cause I thought the riff was fat,
and who doesn't get that pissed off every now and then..

What really got me was when the guy started trying to actually 'sing'....

Fookin amazing album. Was a huge bummer to hear they broke up after the tour.
I cuntsider myself fortunate to have witnessed them on every tour. Christ, they tour through Toronto 3 times for "The Real Thing". With Patton going over the edge more & more each time they came around. I would boil it down to the mass quantity of acid he was taking to combat tour boredom.
On the following tours he'd quit drugs and the whole band was into health power drink concoctions.

Faith No More News (http://www.fnm.com/news/)

I never really noticed this properly before but that is some funny shit. :)

Over the years there have been a lot of complaints quite rightly about Van Halen/Roth official websites but the FNM one is classic.

Look at the blog.
1998 We've split up
2009 We're reforming.

Nothing in between.

An 11 year gap in posts is nuts, that has to be a record.

It's amazing there was someone around who remembered the password. :)

Cheers!
