I've still never listened to VHIII... not based on any kind of conviction to avoid it, just never bothered... I'd assume that it has to be at least thismuch better than anything they did with that fatso scumbag Hagar.

Funny thing is..... while the structure of the song is still incredibly fucked up, and Cherone looks totally out of place, looking at this performance again now, it's 100 times better than anything from the Velveetapalooza Trainwreck of 2004.

Do you guys remember when Cherone fell of the stage on MTV when they were on the 10 spot?
Hitch used to have some .gif of Cherone bending over during that performance..

If I remember correctly, the story was that someone up in the audience called Gary a "faggot" and that he was going to go up into the crowd and confront the guy. He jumped over the rail, but not quite high enough, and hit his "elephant balls".

Ever the performer, Cherone thought of a clever way to hide his obvious pain and embarassment, and improvised the whole "rolling down the stairs" thing.

Or at least that's what someone from Oz posted in the Van Halen newsgroup back in the day.

And Gary was fingerbanging his own ass at another point in the show. That's the picture that Hitch posted.

More than likely during the painful to witness introduction to Fire In The Hole. At this performance, it appears at :28.

Now I'm starting to wonder why I still call myself a fan...

That song wouldn't be half bad with Dave and without the happy Van Hagar chorus...

But check out the awesome bass playing, and Edward is way better here than recently...

SO WRONG. VHIII is so much worse than anything Van Hagar did. I can't even describe...but it was yucky.

What did ed say about not using effects in his comments about the Hendrix comparison ??

The guitar really is good in this song if you can stand the beginning and Hagar...
