Having read a couple of books on Spector recently, this verdict does not come as that much of a surprise...other than the fact he's probably the only celebrity to ever be found guilty of anything in LA in a couple of decades.

Phil Spector found guilty of 2nd-degree murder

By LINDA DEUTSCH – 24 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rock music producer Phil Spector was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion six years ago.

A Superior Court jury returned the verdict after an estimated 29 to 30 hours of deliberations. The jury had the option of choosing involuntary manslaughter, but did not do so.

Spector's young wife, Rachelle, sobbed as the decision was announced.

The 40-year-old Clarkson, star of the 1985 cult film "Barbarian Queen," died of a gunshot fired in her mouth as she sat in the foyer of Spector's mansion in 2003. She met Spector only hours earlier at her job as a nightclub hostess.

Prosecutors argued Spector had a history of threatening women with guns when they tried to leave his presence.

The defense claimed she killed herself.

It was Spector's second trial. His first jury deadlocked 10-2, favoring conviction in 2007.

O.J. is gone..

That guy had the most incredible luck...if it weren't for the King riot, he would have been convicted.

He did go thru a windshield and was way more disfigured than this originally.

That's all reconstructive.

This guy has always been really fucked up. Still, he has been allowed to go around unhindered up until now.

People get put in nut houses for much less than what he's done.

And most people STILL don't realize the power of money.

Loved what he did on 'Rock 'n Roll Radio', though.

"Rocken, Rock 'n Roll Radio... Let's go!"

Cheers! :bottle:

Some of us think that famous people are exempt from being lunatics. That them being a star should put them in this higher status. It just shows us here that the higher status are just as freaky as the ones that flip burgers at McDonalds.

This crazy fuck will probably like getting ass raped in prison. He will be somebody's bitch I have no doubt with that. What I wonder is how he was brought up, did some sort of trauma/tragedy happen to make him tweak? Or was he just born a sick little bitch?

I still say, "eye for an eye" mentality. This guy took this woman's life. I clicked on DJ's link and seen the one photo, and read all the stuff on it. If I were in charge of the penal system I would take this guys teeth out with pliers one by one. I would have a room full of big black men ass rape him (apparently he raped this woman AFTER he killed her??) Let him bleed internally from that.

I cannot stand brutal crimes on innocent people. I have said it time and time again how I would go about with a prison system. All the rapists, pedophiles, and murderers would get slowly put to death. Imagine the victims family members could have some sort of peace that their child who suffered greatly in death, could see this asshole suffer in theirs. The theives would get treated in another way, and so forth and so on. I have no tolerance for wrong doers. Like none.

Phil Spector, with what money he had, if any should go right to this woman's family. Hands down. I know money can't replace someone, but it could ease the pain of bills, psychiatric help (their gonna need it to grieve), etc.

I am cut from the peace, love, share, earth, nature vibe. I try like hell to keep things all fluffy bunnies and pink daisies. But brutal truth smacks me in the ass all the time. Then I feel somewhat Charles Bronson like and clean the fuckin' house.

Not to make light of the murder or anything but, this must be said.....

Phil Spector should have been in prison YEARS ago for what he did to The Beatles' "Let It Be" and The Ramones "End of the Century".

I think the reports were that he was so hyped up on Viagara that he rubbed one out on her after he put a bullet in her head.

The sodomising he rightly deserves should be followed by having to sit and converse with the inane ramblings of GAR & Savickli...

The indians around here used to stake people over anthills and pour honey on them. As the wet rawhide dried it would tighten up and cut into your skin and the ants would crawl into every orfice and bite and slowly eat you. It was a slow, miserable, and painful death. The ants probably wouldn't bite Phil Spector though. He's so fucking wierd they wouldn't want anything to do with him.

Beyond the wall: Phil Spector produces wife's album

Nearly 30 years after his last major recording project, imprisoned music legend Phil Spector has produced a new album.

By Kristin McGrath, USA TODAY

Out of My Chelle, Rachelle Spector's debut disc, will be released digitally Tuesday. The CD arrives in stores July 20.

"I trusted her with my life and songs and production," Spector said in a statement. "She's fantastic on this album."

The project is the latest development in the saga of an icon best known for his work with music's royalty during the '60s and '70s — and more recently for two highly publicized murder trials for the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson.

The pop album's 10 tracks contain elements of rock, R&B and dance. The songs, whose writers aren't credited on the disc, were acquired by Spector, 70, for an unrelated project years ago. The couple, who were married in 2006, recorded the album between court dates and completed it in 2009 before Spector went to prison.

"This is a breakthrough year for both of us," says Rachelle Spector, 29. "It's not just the album. This is about turning the negative into a positive and getting back to the roots of music and what music is all about."

Celebrated for his lavish echo-chamber technique dubbed the "Wall of Sound," Spector set the course for popular music with tours de force like John Lennon's Imagine, the Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody, Ike and Tina Turner's River Deep, Mountain High and The Beatles' Let It Be.

After co-producing Yoko Ono's Season of Glass in 1981, he became reclusive, producing two songs for U.K. rock band Starsailor's 2003 album Silence Is Easy, then re-emerging in the public eye after Clarkson was found shot to death in his home that same year. After a mistrial in 2007, Spector was sentenced in 2009 to a minimum of 19 years.

Rachelle, who was working odd jobs and performing in Los Angeles, met Spector through a mutual acquaintance after Clarkson's death, knowing nothing of his legacy or controversy. The decision to make her album was arrived at by chance, she says. Months into their marriage, she was watching a home video of herself singing at a high school show.

"And he was like, 'That's you?' " she says. "Up until that point, I had put my career on hold because I wanted to make sure I took care of him. He didn't even know my true vocal capacity because it wasn't discussed."

Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis describes the songs as "frothy pop music" and "very competent, reasonably entertaining tracks."

"I don't necessarily hear anything here that extends Phil Spector's legacy," DeCurtis says. "If you had played (the songs) for me independent of my knowing who produced them, I would not have identified them as Phil Spector productions."

The disc is largely credited to Spector and Graham Ward, who is listed as an engineer on every track.

Spector once famously described his music as "little symphonies for the kids." This album, DeCurtis says, "seems to lack that ambition."

Yet even without the unfortunate turns Spector's life has taken, any expectations that he could recapture his past glory might not be realistic, DeCurtis says. "How many times do you really get to make history? Michael Jackson crucified himself attempting to re-create Thriller."

Rachelle says she has obtained her private investigator's license from the state of California and is spearheading her husband's appeals process while managing his estate. For now, lead single Here in My Heart ("You're with me every night and day/Even when you're far away") has a special meaning.

"It's my situation," she says. "My husband is always here with me in my heart, but not in my arms. He's always my shining light. He's what keeps me going, and vice versa."

Probably from embarrassment no doubt.....

How come he couldn't have shot her instead??

What was that old Denis Leary bit?

"We live in a country where John Lennon takes 6 bullets to the chest, Yoko Ono is standing ten feet away and doesn't get hit by ONE SINGLE BULLET! Explain that to me! Somebody explain it to me! Explain it to me, Jesus!! Now we get 20 more years of ' aiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiayayayaaaiaiaiaiai aia' !!!"
