I'm playing a part in a play where I need to call a square dance. This is one of those "get the audience involved" moments. I've found the PERFECT song - HOT FOR TEACHER!

Who says that album's good for nothing? (Although I never did, I love it, but I also like bluegrass...)

Cheers all!

I'm so pumped! My director gave the nod of approval for me to use the song!

"Bow to the left, bow to the right, bow to the centre... it's time to square dance!"

YEEHAW!!!

Ummm.. Top Jimmy, it's community theatre for fucks sake! That's like me asking for you to get me a good seat for your gig at the local pub! ;)

However, I appreciate the sentiment.

I know I would!!!!!!

Hell, in that case, put me a row or two back,
so the increased distance will make it more of a challenge...

"oops, sorry about yer hair, granny!!!!" :wanker:

Cool! Can't wait to see the pics.

You're supposed to say, "Break a Leg", right?

Angel

That's right... and I broke both of em last night! It's so easy to get into character when it's a character you love... and I LOVE this one!!!

There's one scene where I'm supposed to be "deflated", In rehearsal I could never quite get it where I wanted it... last night, I bawled.. it was perfect!

They laughed every time I opened my mouth... and then in the second act I took them from laughing to crying in 3 minutes.

All I can say it's a very powerful feeling knowing you're holding 450 people by the balls! ;)

Hopefully, my cat doesn't lie down on my computer before I have a chance to get photos up! (He did yesterday, dumb shit).

Community, local production. We always hold a greenroom party following Friday night's performance (so the audience can meet the cast & crew), the VH fans in the crowd were freaking over the bluegrass version of "Hot for Teacher"... what a blast.

It's too bad people don't support their community theatre more. There's a lot of great talent out there! I go to two festivals a year, and I'm always blown away by the calibre of the productions. Especially the small towns that don't have the resources we do here. (We celebrated our 83 season this year, our rehearsal/costume/shop space is pretty unbelievable.)

Unfortunately, the photographer didn't get a shot from my favourite scene. I tell this crazy story about getting slapped across the face by a nurse when I was having my first born. One of the characters says, "While you were giving birth", and I reply "yeah, and all strapped up". When I say the line, I sit down with my legs up as if they're in stirrups.

We had a huge crowd Friday night, and they wouldn't stop laughing (a lot of them know me because Friday is the "theatre crowd" night.) I pulled a Harvey Korman and started laughing when I heard one of my friends. Of course, that made the crowd laugh more. I had to hold those damn legs up for 3 bloody minutes because I had two more lines to deliver before the line that I put them down on.

Normally a director would reap you over the coals for laughing on stage, but he loved it - said it reminded him of his favourite Harvey Korman/Tim Conway moment.

My mom took a shot of me with my legs up in the rehearsal space, I'll put it up once she sends it to me.
