Labor Day weekend 1982 & Memorial Day weekend 1983. Two of the greatest rock festivals since Woodstock, and better than either of the "official" Woodstock sequels. Don't know exactly how much of these concerts is available online, but y'all should put up what you can find.

Good performance..... except the fucking keyboards were WAY too loud in the mix. Completely goddamn unneccessary, for that matter - apart from the obvious intro to Mr. Crowley.

Now, why in the FUCK so few official releases from either the 1982 or 1983 festivals have made it out there for people to buy is a mystery.

In fact, the only one I've seen to date was a release of the Triumph set of 1983.

One reason has to be is the fact that most of the performers (especially on Heavy Metal Day) were not at their best... because of all the booze consummed and the heat factor.

Got their (Motley Crue's) full US Fest set as an extra on a boot trade a few years back, and the performance was pretty abysmal. Lee and Mars were okay, but Sixx played like shit and Vince Neil sounded like he had done too much blow before going onstage or something...fookin' horrible.

Only other time I saw them was in 1984, opening up for Ozzy Osbourne. They were quite a bit better then...certainly better than when they did the US Festival, but no great shakes.

Saw a 2005 concert on VH1 Classic, and even though there had obviously been pretty severe post-performance overdubbing, Neil still sounded bad. He just has a weak voice. Always did.

Like the dude from Ratt, Neil is OK in the studio but live he just plain sucks.

Yeah, i would have to agree. Vince always did sound like he was struggling and i have seen them like 5 times or something. I saw Ratt back in 86 and they weren't very good live. I saw them a few years ago and they were better. Bottom line is i think there were a lot of those 80's metal bands that were born of the studio and had difficulty pulling it off live.
