Kimbo Slice is now deciding whether to remain in Mixed Martial Arts or head to the boxing ring after he was released from his contract.

According to an SEC filing obtained by Sherdog.com, Slice (whose real name is Kevin Ferguson) was set free on May 13. His manager, Mike Imber, told the Web site that he could not reach a deal with Strikeforce, who obtained an option to purchase his contract from Pro Elite in February.

Imber told Sherdog.com that Strikeforce wanted Slice to fight for less than the $500,000 he earned in a loss to Seth Petruzelli in October.

"They wanted us to fight for less," Imber said, according to Sherdog.com. "I wouldn't say dramatically [less], but there were just a lot of moving parts in the contract. Once you start moving one, they all kind of got moved around. It just didn't work out, I guess."

While multiple reports have Slice ready to make his boxing debut, Imber said nothing is finalized.

"I can't give you any updates right now, but when I do you're going to be very impressed and shocked," Imber said, according to the Web site. "I can tell you his MMA career is far from over. We have a bunch of other options -- Japan and others. Now that we're actually free to explore them, we're doing it."

Slice was the first MMA fighter to appear on the cover of ESPN The Magazine.

If he was smart, which he is not, he would go over to Japan. The mma fans over there, love big hulking brutes with glass chins. Bob Sapp made quite a name for himself in the land of the rising sun, so could Kimbo.

I have to agree with you there ultra, he needs to regroup & maybe go
away for a bit & see if he can get thru japan 1st, then make a new entrance
in 2years..people will overlook his mistakes by then.
I personally think hes washed up but you never know if you apply yourself
his kicker is if he wants it badly or likes the fast money (now).

peace!

The fact that ESPN had him on the cover of a magazine as a MMA fighter is hilarious.

The guy who used to street fight for a couple grand, who couldn't read a book well enough to be eligible to play 1 quarter of college footbal at Miami, the guy in his mid 30's who worked as security for a porn company, didn't sign a contract because it wasn't enough money for him.

Octomom could kick his ass.

Good riddance, phoney!

Slice is a victim of the system and his own greed. They had him sold as the best thing since the pencil, but all he's proven himself to be since that point is an overgrown pussy with no interest in anything but money. Best advice for him? Get a REAL job and pretend his time in the spotlight never happened before he makes even more of an ass out of himself...

He should just join the WWE and call it a day.

He should just move to something where his fight skill doesn't matter. Call the WWE Kimbo.
