NEW YORK, June 8 (UPI) -- Bret Michaels' publicist confirmed the rocker and reality TV star was hurt when he ran into scenery while performing at the Tony Awards show in New York.

The incident occurred as Michaels sang with his band Poison, along with the cast of Broadway's "Rock of Ages," at Sunday night's prize presentation at Radio City Music Hall, People.com said.

The musician reportedly missed his mark, hit a piece of scenery and fell to the ground.

His representative told People.com while Michaels was "getting X-rays," he is "a trooper" and still had hoped to drop by some Tonys after-parties.

The rocker's spokeswoman also denied reports he suffered a broken nose in the mishap and emphasized he "had a blast performing."

The 63rd annual Tony Awards honored the best on Broadway during the 2008-09 season.

Funny stuff for certain! I remember someone breaking their nose on a mirror ball! Not that I'm a big fan of Bretts but isn't this the group that has issues with hair comments?! :umm:

If you are the organizer putting out a statement then legally speaking it's better to say 'He missed his mark' rather than 'We squashed him by dropping a building on the twat before the music he was miming to had even finished.'

Exactly. Those 2 extra seconds of "ME ME ME" is what did it. I mean good Lord! Even CC got the timing down. And when that dolt is faster & more on the ball than you, it's time to pack it in.

I know little of the bassist.

I have always dug Rockett on the drums . I like the big style as well as others .I just dig drummers who can keep up and never slow it down, he is a go go drummer and complete.

DeVille is just a crack-up and I think talented one in the group.. entertaining guitarist.

You purists will come down on that for shure.

Some can play and some should teach(inspire) (they can't write a tune) CC can play.

Brett is probably alright when the cameras are off, but I can't really tell.??

As far as a lawsuit the Venue hasn't a leg to stand on I am sure offers are on the table already, and I wouldn't pass up a chance to make a buck off some jaggoff who almost crushed my skull due to negligence.

The the whole band and the audience can sue for anxiety suffering and..... Hey I watched it too and I suddenly feel woosie.

And Everyone lived happily ever after..

My uncle dealt with him this year while they were filming his crappy show.Said he was a nice guy treated everyone cool, didnt have a pompous attitude.

It's not that. He seems like he's a nice guy. It's just that he is famous, rich & getting tons of women...yet why? Poison sucks. Always have. They are more popular now then when they first came out and they're playing the same damn songs. Am I a little jealous? Sure. I'd like money & babes (although the quality of his babes has declined). But this guy really needs to put out a decent album to gain my respect. I saw them once when they opened for Ratt. They played "Every Rose" three times in a row because they were filming it & wanted to have several takes. "Y'all don't mind if we play it again"...crowd boos....."We're filming & you'll be on tape"...crowd cheers.

So yeah, when this guy tries to milk the crowd for an extra few seconds of applause to boost his ego and ends up missing the timing which he undoubtedly was informed of....I get a smile.

If he were seriously hurt I wouldn't be joking. Like when your buddy catches a line-drive to the balls...you ask "dude, are you OK?", and when he says "Yes"...then you point and laugh.

Um....Every Lip Has Its Stitch?

Bret Michaels took a spill the other night while performing onstage at the Tony Awards. Shortly after the accident, there was speculation that Michaels had broken his nose...speculation that was quickly shot down. But as it turns out, Bret Michaels did break his nose after all. We hope it doesn't alter his face in a way that would make a household of women not want to vie for his affection on "Rock of Love." A man gets used to things.

Michaels was exiting the stage after singing "Nothing But a Good Time" when a moving set piece hit him in the face. As a result, Michaels suffered a fractured nose and a split lip, which needed three stitches. Ouch. That's more violent than the Tony Awards are ever supposed to get, and probably ever will get again in the entire history of what is usually the gentlest show of the year.

At least Bret Michaels seems to have a good attitude about the whole thing. Speaking to People magazine, Michaels's rep said, "He told me, 'All I remember is Shrek and the donkey helping me up, and Liza [Minnelli] giving me a towel." Whoa. We're sure Bret Michaels has had his fair share of fun with psychedelic drugs...but this sounds better!

Bret's rep continued, "And Bret was laughing when he heard [Tonys host] Neil Patrick Harris said he gave new meaning to 'head-banging'...Bret did not walk off the stage angry or in a hissy fit. He was honored to be asked to participate and be amongst Broadway royalty, like Liza and Sir Elton [John]. He did the red carpet, and he was taking pictures with Angela Lansbury backstage. He was so happy to be there."

Bret's a good sport. A lot of stars would have at least needed to have gotten their stitches taken care of before they felt ready to laugh about the whole thing...

08-Jun-09Bret @ Tony's, Artie Lange, more

6/8/09: Got a bunch of emails about the Bret Michaels/Tony accident. I was not watching the show live. Even though it was a rock band playing, I am not, and never have been, a fan of Broadway and that whole musical style/singing, etc. Anyway most important Bret is a friend and I wish him well and hope his injuries are not serious. However there is a back story to all this that nobody knows or is talking about. When Rikki Rockett was in my studio Friday night he came direct from the bands rehearsals for their performance at the Tony's. Rikki had a video on his phone of the set and the band running through the song which was not played live, common for TV. It was a rehearsal more for where to be on the stage and learn where the props and production would be. Looking at the video I noticed Bret was not with the band and there was a stand in (Rikki's assistant) for Bret. Rikki explained that Bret could not make rehearsals because he was doing a show with his solo band and would not join them until the day of the Tony's. Later in the interview Rikki talked about how he wished Bret was more commited to Poison and was not a fan of him doing solo shows because it took away from the impact of Poison. All I could think of was Rikki saying this Friday night on my show when I saw Bret's accident on national TV. My immediate thought was the band, who have a strained relationship with Bret over the years anyway, just shaking their head when this happened that if Bret were there for rehearsal, and not with the solo band this probbaly would not have happened. Also, if you are a Poison fan at all, you know that Bret and the band always joke about so many crazy mishaps through their career at major moments. Chalk another one up on the list! Thank goodness that the injury was not super serious at all, and again, feel better Bret. Typical stuff in the every crazy world of Poison!
