Here in Gnashville.

The current issue of the Nashville Scene (music mag like the LA Weekly or whatever).

So I am looking in the classifieds in back for the music biz, and in the category Music Lessons & Instruction" there is the following ad:

David Lee Roth Guitarist Bart Walsh

followed by a phone number.

Of course that pales compared to when I saw an ad in the Recycler in LA in 1990 that read:

MSG/UFO Guitarist Michael Schenker is accepting a limited number of students.

I think Mikey was charging 200 bucks an hour, minimum half an hour.

I was furious at not having the money lol.
Oh well.

I remember the Schenker ad too, it was 200.

Bart moved from LA shortly after leaving DLR band.

I wouldn't take guitar lessons from crazy Michael Shenker for free

Jake E Lee had one for $200.00 and hour in the village voice.

I'd plunk down $100 for half hour with some of these guys. Not so much for the lesson, but just to rap with them (ok, maybe have 'em teach me one minor trick). Would be cool indeed for big fans of the guy. I'd ask Jake E Lee to teach me Waiting For Darkness just so I could watch him play it.

I've been lucky enough get to do that with a few of my heroes for free a few times, and it does not suck.

Bart's totally cool, and not to bag on him, but as for former Atomic Punks guitarists, I have to admit I'd rather take a guitar lesson from Russ Parrish...that dude's amazing. :D

That's awesome. The closest I've been is buying Mick Brown a beer & talking for 10 minutes before a Dokken show at a club in Pacific Beach. Very cool dude. It's just so weird getting to meet some of these guys that when I was a kid I watched on MTV and bought their albums.

Oh yeah, at that same club I met Ralph Saenz once. He was spraying his hair before the Atomic Punks show. I asked him if they could play "Dirty Movies", but they don't have that in their set rotation :(

What, Mick didn't buy? :D He's hysterical. Ralph actually lives near me, ran into him at Walgreens the other day.
Guess if I'd been more on top of it, could've asked him if Russ was still teaching...

Both Bart and Ralph used to run ads in BAM giving lessons.

Aside from giving lessons and doing cover band gigs, I can't remember what other things Ralph has done!

Would you require them to wear the 80's Ed hair wig during the session? ;)

If I take lessons from Bart Walsh at $100 dollars an hour to learn how to make the scuffy noise intro to "Mean Street" I must demand that he wear the wig.

WIG Wiggy wiggle-wee wiggigigigigggg wiggsey wig! HAHAHAHA~!!

Pretty easy, actually...look for Curt Mitchell's lesson on it on YouTube.

.. I mean, any time spent with Bart Walsh, we need to have the wig.

NO wig=no deal. Sorry, that's the dealbreaker right there.

Would you expect to see the Michael Angelo guy without the wig?

See, the wig is as important as Heavy Metal Face #34. Urrrrrrrgh~!! Metal. Urrrrrrght.. WIG~!!
