That's the thing.....pop country sucks, real country fucking kicks ass. That guitar player is awesome.
On a side note, Merle was in prison before he made it big.....you gotta live it before you can write it.

Always appreciated the Grateful Dead's take on "Mama Tried". Weir's vocal, and Jerry's lead guitar, which sounds more countrified than the guy Merle had, oddly enough...
