Actually I think the visual/entertainment angle was started with the Weather Channel back in the 80's and the News outfits took notice...

Put some pretty faces/bodies delivering mostly boring information and people will sit mesmorized for hours. Fox kicked it up with short skirt leg shots and full head to toe presentation instead of the usual belly up in front of a desk.

I think it combines both an informational outlet and entertainment. Not sure Shep is all that right leaning so much as what the producers queue up and spin. But he is entertaining in his personal commentary and delivery.

Who says the news can't be fun..?
