Ok, so I'm reading this comic strip I found out about recently - some of you guys may know about it already, but some don't - called User Friendly.

It's been going on non stop everyday since 1997, so I've got a lot to catch up on. Anyway, some jokes are funny, others are quite lame, but most have the normal quality for a newspaper strip, even though this isn't one - so so.

But THESE two are really funny. I literally laffed my arse off. So I thought I'd post them.

Oh, yeah... I've read a couple of 'em, but not enough to make a decent judgment.

But from what I've read, seems to be a nice comic to follow, entertaining, if not exactly particularly funny. So-so jokes, like any comic strip should be.

But I've always had a weak spot for Hagar the Horrible. No, not that one. The Viking.

Because I only saw the :umm: smilie. The cartoon underneath wouldn't show, so I thought I had "struck a chord" of sorts.

Anyways, if that was the case, I was gonna tell you that I'm a Taoist of sorts - simply because that's the label under where my lifestyle fits better - and there was no reason to feel insulted.

I guess there's no point now. ;)

And yeah, a "Hardcore Taoist" is an oxymoron in and of itself. Hence the quotes.

Does this then mean, that the more you claim to be Taoist the less you are, while the less you care about it the more you are? It's not what you are, but what you can become? And do you really should try to become something? Or should you just let the universe guide and mould you with its invisible currents?

There is a Chinese proverb that says -- and here I go trying to not to bungle the translation -- people make plans, but you might as well let Heaven make the plans. Which means no matter how you meticulously plan something, taking into consideration the probability of something going wrong, the outcome will not be what you expected. Should you try to make something of your life? Of course. Don't sit there and wait for things to happen. If it's in your destiny, you'll meet up with it eventually.

I think Taoists and Buddhists are low-key types. I appreciate that the people who practice either Taoism or Buddhism do not go around soliciting and recruiting new members. Their attitude is "The door is open. You want to come in, come in. If you don't, then don't."

Now let's get back to posting comic strips, shall we?

Not because I knew someone had already put it into words, you understand... I didn't know about that proverb. But years ago, I reached that same conclusion.

Ever since then, I always do plan things quite meticulously while at the same time leaving a lot of maneuvering space for whatever may truly come my way.

Meaning, first I try not to leave anything to chance, and then I just throw it all away and wing it.

No, they weren't. I don't think that the person drawing them is asian, let alone Japanese, but I may be wrong.

If that's the case, might be the only western person who got the Manga feel just right, as opposed to only copying the drawing style, like everyone else does nowadays.

Oh, I asked because the drawing style and the names of the characters are Japanese-esque. The only graphic comics I ever read was from Verotik. It was the first issue of Satanika.
