It must have seemed so perfect. An obscure blogger unearths some pages of President Obama's college thesis. The report supposedly comes from big-time journalist Joe Klein (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Joe+Klein&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-701) of Time (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Time&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-701) magazine. And the thesis has some real gems: like Obama's disdain (http://washingtonindependent.com/65015/the-obama-thesis-hoax) for the Constitution.
The whole thing was nothing more than

I hope Rush carves his head into a jackolantern for Halloween.

What I hope Rush does is issue a complete and immediate retraction.

One he never got with his NFL fiasco. Which they are all starting to dribble out now (MSNBC, CNN, various newspapers), slowly and quietly.

If he wants moral authority, that's what he should do.

This is an exercise in basic verbal physics: What happens when an object of incalculable mass is struck with the force of undeniable truth? If you answered “an apology,” then you’re not El Rushbo.

What’s up with the NeoCons? They don’t apologize even when they’re obviously wrong, be it about WMDs in Iraq (not even an oops, I bombed you again . . .) or when it dawns on them they’re reporting patently false “news” stories about President Obama. It’s a bit pathetic, really, that they have to resort to completely fabricated stories about President Obama because most Americans just aren’t buying their brand of BS that says he’s some kind of evil hybrid Hitler-Mussolini-Stalin-Socialist-Marxist-whatever.

The most recent example: On his Friday program Rush “Deaf by Temptation” Limbaugh read an Internet satire piece about an alleged thesis President Obama wrote while a student at Columbia denigrating the Constitution and advocating the “distribution of wealth.”

According to the New York Daily News,

Limbaugh sounded off Friday on a supposed report that Time magazine reporter Joe Klein had unearthed Obama’s college thesis, titled “Aristocracy Reborn,” in which he sounded off on the nation’s Founding Fathers and the Constitution and the distribution of wealth.

The only problem – the report was pure fiction.

The original post with the fabricated details about Obama’s college thesis was written as a satire on a humor blog. An obscure blogger, Michael Leeden, mistakenly picked it up, reporting the satirical post as fact, and then Limbaugh ran with it on his national radio show Friday.

Leeden has apologized.

The Pigman? America’s Most Famous Talk Show Host? </crickets>

Worse, after acknowledging the hoax Limbaugh minimized the fact that he spent an hour reporting this falsehood as the God’s honest truth. In fact, he insisted that his report was still valid because it expressed how the President “really feels,” adding that “I don’t care if these quotes are made up. I know Obama thinks it.” Sounds like Bush/Cheney: “We don’t care that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, we know Saddam would’ve done it if he could’ve.” Wow.

So we can add psychic powers to Mt. Rush’s other gargantuan talents, like the ability to gobble – without consequences – mountains of illegally-obtained narcotics at a rate that would paralyze a racehorse . . . well, unless you count permanently damaging his cochlear nerves. And, I don’t believe for a skinny minute that the Oxymoron was taken in by a hoax. Perpetrated it maybe, but duped? Gimme a break. He has enough remaining functioning brain cells to know that a large portion of his mouth-breathing ditto-heads will believe the false story anyway. So, even if he reports it as fact (then issues a half-hearted retraction) the damage is done.

Meanwhile, Rush’s apprentice Glenn “tears of a clown” Beck is not giving up the spotlight to his massive mentor without a fight. Not to be outdone, Beck brandished a baseball bat and mocked President Obama, depicting him as a mob boss who will “do some damage” if he doesn’t get his way. Uh, Glenn? You’ve got the wrong administration. It was the very real, very organized Bush Crime Family that bullied and butchered their path of destruction across the planet, be it with illegal wars in the Mideast, busting our Constitutional rights and freedoms, or devastating the economy and environment. But I digress. Beck’s anti-Obama propaganda campaign to his brain dead minions hasn’t been effective enough, so he breaks out a baseball bat to literally bludgeon his point home. How truly pitiful. How truly insane.

Truth is, Rush and Beck and Hannity and O’Reilly are merely the front men for the real gangsters who have thus far escaped justice; the true Teflon Dons: Bush, Cheney, Rummy and their corporate owners. The right-wing media thugs poke baseball bats into the air and spin lies into the microphones, but the reality is they’re now running security for a Family that’s officially out of office. No amount of deliberately false reporting or bat-waving will change that.

Kinda sorta like Rich Sanchez of CNN who reports complete lies about Rush and then when it is proven beyond doubt that it is a lie, issues a retraction...halfhearted and via fucking TWITTER.

Bit pathetic indeed...

BTW, does numbnuts Malloy (who clearly does his own deep research) realize the line "this is what he really believes" was Rush paraphrasing the media's response to him not even a week before? One of the reporters had said "I don't care if he said it or not, he clearly thinks this".

Everyone ran with that, without even taking the time to read (it's in the transcript on his own site.).

Interesting to watch.

The clips that Keith Olbermann showed from Mush himself show the PigMan saying exactly that. Limpdick - even after admitting he was punked - insisted that Obama actually believes what the satire said he believes. Even though Mush offers absolutely no evidence to back up such accusations. Mush wasn't quoting the media response, he was speaking for himself.

Right, that's what I'm saying. He DID say that, as a tweak to whoever was listening, didn't do their homework (thusly missing the irony) and would report it as just as you have stated. Which they have done in droves.

Which "lies" were those?

The number of racist quotes supposedly attributable to him, which when throughly researched by numerous "news orgs" proved to be utterly false.

MSNBC "unable to verify"

Here is a quick primer on the forced and half-hearted responses (from a biased source sure, but you can go directly to the retractors to verify if you need to).
