Here is something you don't see every day. Believe it or not, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath spent a very brief period of time as guitarist for Jethro Tull. This is a mimed performance of "A Song For Jeffrey", from the film The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus.

I can`t remember a thread about `em so here it is.

I don`t think Tony and Ian Anderson could co-exist in the same band, they both want to be the boss.

I love Jethro Tull, but I only have cuntpilations. Which albums should I get? Besides Aqualung...

This is one of the songs I love the most. It's like a mini-version of "Stairway To Heaven". Starts up like any ballad pretty much, but the guitar and flute solos fit in perfectly.

Mr. Badguy do you like Procol Harum? I think these two bands have something in common...at their best, great progressive rock...

Good picks!

Also "Stand up", "Thick As A Brick" and "Minstrel In The Gallery".

I love "A Passion Play" but I would recommend listening to the others first as it`s very "heavy".

Excellent choices. I'd also throw in Crest of a Knave, as it was one of the band's better (and unjustly overlooked) 80's efforts.

This tune veers a bit too close to ZZ Top territory for my taste, but it is interesting nonetheless.

IAN ANDERSON IS "IN A STATE OF ABJECT TERROR" OVER THICK AS A BRICK 2:
Jethro Tull front man Ian Anderson is set to release a sequel to the group's seminal 1972 album Thick as a Brick, and in a new interview with Examiner.com the famous flautist commented on whether he has any trepidation in following up such a successful piece of work in today's changed marketplace. "Well, 'trepidation' is one way to describe it," Anderson stated with his trademark dry humor. "I think I would choose my words more carefully and describe it, for me and the other guys, as being in a state of abject terror."
Anderson told writer Sterling Whitaker that although he feels strongly about Thick as a Brick 2, he also recognizes that everything is different today than it was in 1972. "Our expectations artistically are high. Our expectations commercially, and in terms of approval rating, are tempered by reality," he said with a laugh. "It will emerge to a resounding symphony of silence from most people. They'll just go, 'What?'"
However, he's confident that the album will find a strong reception from true music fans. "I think they'll think, 'Wow, this is really great, something to get our teeth into. This is a great, meaty thing that we can really listen to. We can think about it, we can read the lyrics in all these different languages, we can be involved in it,'" Anderson reflected. "In a way that perhaps they haven't been involved in the listening experience for a long time."
Anderson will release Thick as a Brick 2 in April, followed by a tour that will feature him performing both the original album and its new sequel in their entirety live on stage. Rick Grimes is a badass. Shane dumped a motorcycle on his (Rick's) head last week, yet he still managed to kick Shane's ass while taking out a bunch of the undead simultaneously. Awesome fucking show.

I saw Jethro Tull and U.K. at the old St. Louis Arena in.... ( sigh )....1979 . One of the more memorable and quite colorful concerts

that I have ever been to .

Ian Anderson was / probably still is a master showman . He would twirl and throw his flute around like a baton and

catch that sucker behind his back and not miss a note . Vintage stuff !

Anybody remember Iron Maidens cover of " Cross-Eyed Mary " ?

Mr Badguy

Yes, that was the first Tull song I ever heard.

I recommend the new remaster of "Aqualung".

The sound on it is incredible and makes the already brilliant songs sound better.

I love thick as a brick - and am looking forward to buying II it when it comes out - I hope their is a newspaper again =)

I saw them in the 90's and would go again if they tour here ..

I hope they can find radio play - the classic rock stations in my neck of the woods won;t play NEW stuff from classic rock artists - nothing from Stones, EC, ABB or new VH - crazy !!!

I listened to the full Facebook stream of TAAB2 last night.

Not one long song like the original, but short songs.

To me it sounded like a cross between 70's era Tull and "Roots to branches".

The guitar player is a Martin Barre sound-a-like.

10 songs in and this is a lot better than I was expecting it to be.
Production wise, this is one of the best sounding Tull (or should I say Tull related) CDs I've ever heard.
Anderson's voice sounds really good, but I'm not a fan of that Stone Temple Pilot megaphone effect that they put on Ian's voice in some of the heavier passages.

Mr Badguy

"Aqualung" (the song) had that effect on it, so it fits.

Elvis, "W2MN" is good.

Never bloody happy with new stuff some people.
