He hasn't seen a drum kit that small since 1972.

I love Rush, still making NEW music, touring and still being able to be in the same room as each other and having a laugh.

This is great - Neil on a watered-down kit. He certianly can kick the shit on a 5-piece

I wonder if Neil and Buddy Rich ever knew each and/or were close friends.

I was staying with a friend and we went to see a football game. After the game we were throwing a frisby around and these trucks started to come in and they asked us to stop throwing the frisby and then one guy asked if we wanted a job. We said sure and we unloaded flight cases of equipment out of the trucks for an outfit called Show Co Lightiing if I remember right. They were setting up the stage,PA, and lights for Rush and it was the Signals tour. We got all access passes so we watched the sound check and the show. It was pretty cool. I went to the restroom to take a leak and ran into Geddy Lee. I thought he was on the road crew because there was a dude on the road crew that kind of looked like geddy. LOL!

Niel Piert is really quiet. I remember he was wearing a Montreal Expo hat. Alex was one wild mother fucker. When he was done with a guitar he would toss it to the side of the stage and someone would catch it and throw another one out. He was actually driving the tour bus wildly around the venue parking lot. LOL! Geddy looked tired. He screwed up because the show was in Idaho and said it was great to be in big sky country which is Montana.

Buddy Rich? Friends?

He was the champion asshole in Jazz.

There are audio clips floating around the net where you can listen to him curse his own band out. For 4-5 minutes straight.

Yeah, I was about to say something like that..... Buddy Rich was like the Eddie Van Halen of jazz drummers. Huge amount of talent, but not very good at making or keeping friends.

Peart says that Buddy Rich was a huge influence on him. I'm told Buddy Rich could do stuff that even the best drummers these days can't touch like odd snare patterns.

Cathy Rich, his daughter has acquired the film and television rights to produce the Neil Peart bio "GHOST RIDER" through her production company Scabeba Entertainment. She and Peart became friends in 1992 when Neil appeared on the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship concert and they also collaborated on the Grammy-nominated CD's "Burning for Buddy", parts 1 and 2.

There's shit Buddy can do that I have never seen recreated. He was so smooth for being as fast as he was.

Great info about Neil's "Ghost Rider".

As for Buddy, aside from his personality, I could never deny he was badder than 1,000 motherfuckers when he sat down behind a kit. Awesome motherfucker is a completely inadequate description.
