For those who are fairly new, back in the day, Mr. Walker used to run an amazing thread full of xmas tunes of all shapes and sizes.
Somewhere, on a CD, I have a lot of it.
This thread is in remembrance of this incredible thread - and to all of those who posted in it.

Yeah but I waited for a used copy since most of the stuff on there was on the first two CDs. In retrospect, I would have paid full price for it because the title track is priceless.

10. Roy Orbison - Pretty Paper (1963)
Finally found this song on a compilation CD. Written for Roy to sing by Willie Nelson.
09. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues fx Kirsty MacColl (1987)
You have to love a Christmas song that masterfully includes the word 'Faggot'... BTW, fuck you Igo... LOL!
08. O Holy Night - Halford (2009)
Still a little disappointed with how the Metal God handled the song's big climax (yuck!) but he still gives a great rendition of one of the greatest songs off all time.
07. I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm - Dean Martin (1959)
Every year an old classic gets in my head and I can't get rid of it... here's this year's song and Dean's happens to be the best IMO, but a close second goes to Alvino Rey and his talking steel guitar... I couldn't find an audio file of this one, but it's on my 'Christmas With The King Family' dvd and it is fucking amazing... wonder if it's on youtube.
06. Jeanette, Isabella - Tori Amos (2009)
Excellent interpretation of the underrated 16th Century Carol 'Bring A Torch, Jeanette, Isabella'. Led me to go back and rediscover it, or actually reminded me that I wanted to rediscover it when the choir sang it during the Christmas Eve Mass I attended last year.
05. The Sounds Of Christmas - Johnny Mathis (1963)
Kinda the title track off the 1963 lp 'Sounds Of Christmas' (yes, the song has "The" and the album title does not). On the whole, this album doesn't touch the Mathis/Faith 1958 masterpiece 'Merry Christmas', but this wound up being the Mathis song for me this year.
04. Cherry, Cherry Christmas - Neil Diamond (2009)
Brilliant. But here's the thing that leaves me scratching my head over this new album... most of the tracks were taken from his first 2 Christmas CDs. As far as new material there's the cover of 'The Chanukah Song' and two originals written by Neil. Then there's another new track 'Meditations on a Winter Night' but it's an instrumental that has nothing to do with Neil and is credited to DJ Ashba... a skinny tattooed guitar playing kid who was in Nikki Sixx's side band and I think he's now playing with Guns N Roses... how did he get a track on a Neil Diamond Christmas CD? WTF? Maybe he has pictures of Neil blowing someone?
03. Little Toy Trains - Glen Campbell (1968)
Great song off a great album 'That Christmas Feeling' that's really hard to find on CD... I had to rip it from vinyl. Most Christmas purists prefer the original 'Old Toy Trains' written by Roger Miller in 1965 or Nana Mouskouri's 1972 version, but I'm partial to this one.
02. Light Of The Stable - Emmylou Harris (1979)
I'd be willing to bet this might be Jesus' favorite Christmas song. It features Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt & Dolly Parton on the unforgettable harmonies in the 'Hallelujah' chorus. A perfect song.

I don't think any song will ever knock this one from the top spot. My favorite Christmas song ever!

That one has been around for years....they like to play it on the radio around here at Christmas. It is very funny, especially with the guy laughing in the background who sounds suspiciously like John Boy from John Boy and Billy a radio show out Charlotte, NC. :biggrin:

Here are a few of mine that I really like a lot!
I would say Brenda Lee's Christmas Album is my favorite.
Brenda and her husband own the building I used to work in, which is on the same property as her management offices.
I used to see her often and had many conversations with both her and her husband.
She is a sweetheart, and her husband is one impeccable guy.
This may no longer be the case, but several years ago I found out she had sold more records on a global scale than any female recording artist in history!
I believe she is the only female artist to be inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame AND The Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and in February of this year she received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award.
In 1964 she recorded a song called "Is It True?" featuring Jimmy Page on guitar, it was her only hit single recorded in London, England and was produced by Mickie Most.
Lee enjoys one distinction unique among successful American singers; her opening act on a UK tour in the early 1960s was a then-little-known beat group from Liverpool, England: The Beatles.
