I'm pretty sure that's pirated from the PPV show they did with Scammy.

Yeah, it simply has the date wrong. It was made during August 18th & 19th 1995. It is also heavily edited, which in a way is kind of a bonus. :hee:

Full listing is here at VH Boots (http://www.vhboots.com/torontoppv.html).

The Sisters and Dave are playing "happy family" these days...or until we get a press release that says differently? In '05, I believe (but could be wrong) Dave was doing his radio gig and not touring with the Sisters.

I was referring too the recentish tour with Dave and the Sisters. I see the release date for this is in January, I thought seeing as the band toured the other year we could expect to see a release from that tour as opposed to this DVD I posted.

Okay, AB - I see what you're saying. Something tells me that the most recent tour DVD will be released by the Warner/Rhino label (within the next decade?.... with the Sisters, you know as well as I...if it becomes real, it will be a miracle. They could have been smart about it and released it in October/November for Christmas Selling... maybe they've made Janie in charge of all merchandise!

In the meantime:

Funny isn't it, you'd think the sisters would be desperate to flood the market every time they tour or just after a tour with money making items such as live albums, DVDs, the whole thing. Yet they don't. They could have made a killing if they had done what you said and released October / November time.

Nah, EVH covered himself by releasing a series overpriced products like tennis shoes, picks, guitars (Coming soon...the Drop To Hell tailpiece!) and electrical gizmos. For spare change, he hocked those two dubious hot rods of his as well. His cash-flow is pretty well assured, that is until his current wife decides to remodel the kitchen, then we'll see another tour.

True. With all of EVH's product endorsements, he can live off of what he's making in that arena, rather than the one you use for a concert venue. My thinking is that from the beginning of Janie taking over as VH's publicist, these guitar endorsements, products with EVH's signature on them have been going strong...now that they are married. Think about it.... EVH had a pre-nup for Janie to sign, which I'm sure guarantees most of the VH song book royalties and products prior to the marriage goes to Wolfie... so she got on the product, merchandise endorsement bandwagon as his publicist, having him get his name and red/white stripe logo on multiple endorsements like Nike, etc. which in the end may fill her pocketbook, should she outlive the Smoking Loon.

They must create a new CD of music in order to consider Tour '10, which EVH has referred to in recent interviews. Do they really think we will line their pockets with hearing a modified setlist at this point? Throw in the obscure songs from the old albums along with new music and my ticket is purchased.

You wouldn't even get enough $$$ for that to break even on the gas it took to drive there. Sammy era VH stuff has a going rate of what? $1.99.

So true. Any time I've ever looked through a used bin I never (well almost never) see any CVH cd's. Yet there always seems to be Van Hagar discs. Shit, they can't even give them away!:hee:

Coincidence? I think not.

Looks like that 2005 thing is a Region 2 only dvd...possibly a European-only release? Whatever. Just as well; bad enough that abomination of a tour took place in the US.

Well, there obviously is a hardcore fanbase that will buy just about anything put out under the Van Halen name. I mean, yeah, 1/2 a million copies of Van Halen 3 and BOBW are no great shakes considering what the other albums in the catalog sold, but that's still (in theory) a half-million people who will shell out the bucks for whatever business venture gets cooked up on Howdy Doody Mountain.

Say you got a half-million people who will buy tickets to see a Van Halen show and these people require no more than Roth being in the band and the setlist including all the big CVH hits. Say the band plays venues (lowballing here) that have a capacity of 10,000. That's still 50 potential sold-out dates. More than enough to fill a tour schedule.

THAT is who Van Halen is playing to these days. Fair enough for them, I suppose, since it's the paying fanbase that enables celebrities to keep living the high life. Personally, I'd like to hear some new shit live too, as well as some "deep" cuts that everyone on this site would know instantly but might well have the casual fan/concertgoer scratching their head, saying "I don't know this one..."

Hey, people get conditioned to accept the mundane and mediocre. Conditioned so much so that they even delude themselves into thinking it's good. How the fuck else can one explain a piece of shit flick like Paul Blart: Mall Cop taking in upwards of $150 million just on the US theatrical box office run alone?

Hey I just tore apart my Yamaha home sound entertainment system (a softfiltered 5 channel amp with a DVD player in it) to get a stuck disc out, and the fucking electronics came on two boards, but the drive looked exactly like the chassis of a standard PC DVD drive! With the 40pin ribbon connector after the second board, and everything..

Couldn't it be possible to de-regionalize your DVD player by replacing the drive unit with a generic PC drive?

Oh it would have to be an IDE device w the standard cable.

Hmm.. I wonder would a cheaper bluray PC drive work in one of these 5.1 systems!
