I guess it doesn't dawn on him that the average listener who doesn't play instruments may not care how Paul got his bass tones on the white album.

However there's no bass on I Will. He's doing that vocally.

I don't know man. Mick Mars is in a really bad way. Poor guy. Breaks my heart to see him all fucked up. He seems like such a good dude. And it ain't Crue without "the scary" guy. Although I'd love to see his disease go into a bit of remission for another tour. The fans love that guy, and I think when he is up there he can really feel it. That's gotta hold some type of healing properties in itself.

As for Nikki...I just can't see him lasting too long in a weekly job where he works regular hours. Sounds like a decent enough show. But it's not easy being a host...especially a good one. Which is why the truly good ones get so much bank.

Honestly though, Nikki has become Gene Simmons. Attention whore extreme and the obvious decision maker in Crue.

Meh.

Can't be bothered listening to Nikki Sixx continually talk about how fucked up on smack he was in the 1980s.

Enjoyed what Tommy Lee and Mick Mars did in the band. Neil and Sixx were always a couple of hacks to me. The band had several good songs, but would hardly think of them as representative of the best rock had to offer, even in the limited context of 80s LA hair metal bands. First two albums were good. Theater Of Pain and beyond was mostly average to lame.

True and true. Crue has always been Nikki's band.
As for attention whore?! I'd say Tommy Lee & Dave Navarro have him beat by a country mile in that department... ;)

No doubt. I don't know if it's an ongoing therapeutical part of his life since gettin sober (to talk about it), but yeah the shit's gotten waaay old.

Agreed, the first 2 were classics.
To me, the lot of them were hacks. BUT, Sixx wrote some good f**kin tunes. Mind you they were 50% of each album. But we wouldn't be talking about them today if the songs were forgettable or shite...

I hear ya. Sixx can be engaging from time to time, so long as the subject is about himself. Who knows, I never would have thought that Elvis Costello would be any good at being an interviewer either, but his show on the Sundance channel has been surprisingly good, with Costello revealing an acute ability to know when to speak and when to shut up and let the person being interviewed have the floor.

It really matters as to how the show is produced. If he has a decent support staff (and maybe some writers), this could work. After all, some of those jocks on the many NFL shows are borderline idiots as well, and even they can get away with giving the appearance of coherency. OK, Shannon Sharpe, not so much.

I remember watching the behind the scenes reunion show on....I think VH1. The guys were informed that Mick was really sick and had just basically given up on life. The manager...Doc, I think, even offered to pay for Mick to seek treatment. The guys didn't even know he was that sick and Mick was embarrassed by the attention.

When he finally showed up for some meetings he looked like an 80 year old man....that was truly sad and I hope he can recover enough to do some shows....

Q: What kind of conversations do you plan to have?

A: Near the studio, there's a mental institution. I said to some of the higher-ups at Premiere (Radio Networks), we should go there and get some of the institutionalized people and bring them over. They looked at me like I was truly insane.Actually, this isn't such a bad idea. It would draw listeners and keep them on edge because there's a chance that during the course of the interview, one of 'em could just completely flip out and wreck the place. There's an element of danger there, or what Roth would refer to as "an unpredictable outcome"...

Half the time I listen to talk-radio, I end up wondering why some of these 'celebrities' (as well as some hosts) aren't locked in a fucking cage anyways. It's not as much of a stretch if you stop and think about it.

It entirely depends upon which Vince Neil shows up: The relatively sober version, or the wasted guy that can't remember the words to the songs he performs. Also, keep in mind he has yet another solo album due in April, so you might be subjected to a bunch of unfamiliar material with a few Crue hits thrown in.

You make the call. ;)

I am considering this. I am caught up on all my, "To Doo Stuff" and weeeel I got 35.00$ plus the 60$ or so that I will innevitably burn on party favors.
Vince was interview via telephone from St. Louis this morning on my morning monkey radio show and sounded great.

Granted there is 10 hrs till the show and St. Louis is 3 hrs away by car that is enough time to completely work the 12 steps in reverse.

But the bar is open right now and I am easily; ....content with that ..lol

I dunno if ANYTHING can explain their success...

maybe it was just the bubblegum safeness of the music and good looks of the band...perfect shower nozzle clitty-rub material for 14 year old girls who then flocked to see the band, which in turn brought a large amount of guys to the shows to see the girls...

I mean, a guy taking his girl to a Bon Jovi or Poison show in the 1980s probably wasn't a case of both of them liking the band, but rather the guy taking his date out to the musical equivalent of a romantic comedy movie in hope that it would get him some play later.

Like, at least the first two Crue albums were decent-to-good before Theater Of Lame came out. After 1985, even inspite of all the smack they did the Crue became a bunch of glam metal posers. At least the Crue had a small amount of credibility to lose, unlike Poison or Bon Jovi (who never had any to begin with).
