How to take a lame song and make it lamer

What a fucking piece of shit.

They even digitalized the voices of those rappers that can't sing. I kept waiting for T-Pain to burst into "On A Boat". At least the original had actual talent. This fucking sucks hard. Oh yeah, way to milk Michael Jackson & Ray Charles just a little bit more too. And something about Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Kanye West pretending that they actually give two fucks about anybody but themselves is laughable.

Saw a lot of Wyclef Jean. Isn't he pocketing a bunch of money from his own "charity"?

know what i'd like to see? an all-star re-recording of It's The End Of The World As We Know It, And I Feel Fine. complete with a video full of starving Haitians living in piles of their own filth. bonus points for video clips of flies going into a six month old kid's mouth.

and then...the all-stars say you know what, we're not donating the proceeds to Haiti, we're gonna blow it all on strippers and booze, and we're gonna make a video of that. fuckin' tits and ass and beer. fuck those third world pricks.

At least then I could give them credit for being honest.

I'd reach into my pocket with the mind-set of "Hey, at least they're honest about it!"

This clusterfuck is going to line more pockets (through channels) that by the time it reaches its destined destination, they'll be lucky if a penny falls into their hand.

Just straight-out tell me it's going to booze, blow, and hookers...I'll throw a coin or two in the name of absolute honesty!

We're jaded by the swindle, can you tell? LOL!

I wish I could remember all the lyrics to the right-wing parody of "We Are The World" that I wrote back in 1985. It would be better than this shit.

I stopped watching this mess the minute Barbra Streisand delivered the "It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me". Given this woman's distaste for the average citizen, I highly doubt I'll be working hand in hand with her on anything.

It was nice of Celine Dion to offer tribute to Cyndi Lauper, by stealing...err, recreating Lauper's performance in the original tune note for note. Aside from Tony Bennett, Wyclef and that chick from Sugarland, Streisand and Dion were the only people I recognized. And what was with that white guy doing the Stevie Wonder impression? http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-confused-smileys-423.gif (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/Free-Character-Smileys/)

Dude, you read my fucking mind! Creepy.

Don't forget Jamie Fox's inappropriate Ray Charles impersonation. Even the chick next to him looked surprised. Great time to pop a joke in there Jamie. Lighten the mood a bit. Nothing calls for comic relief like 100,000 dead people.

However, I did recognize Pink. And I give her full props for actually singing, not copying someone else, or being digitalized. Never would have guessed it.

Closer to 30 years actually.... it was that whole Reagan/Bush October Surprise thing that really woke me up politically. (meaning that I knew it was a setup the day Bonzo was inaugurated and the Iranian hostages conveniently released the same day)

What ruined it for me was the rap and I think it was Wyclef that did this shrill whining out of key thing. I don't know how to describe it. I enjoyed Pink singing. I think the others there were there for 'historical' purposes. You know, something to have on their resume at the end of it all, and bring attention to their careers.

I was a bit slower off the mark than you were. For me, things started to smell funny around the time that David Stockman article appeared in the Atlantic Monthly. ;)

I thought your first sign was John Lennon conveniently assassinated a month after releasing a new album (Carter was a lame duck President) and a month before the start of a War Presidents inauguration.

HAHAHAHA, right?! Christ, that was awful! I honestly didn't know half of the people who were singing in that thing. I DID however see the Wilson sisters of Heart in there the second time I watched it.

No, I actually put that part together when Reagan was shot in March of 81, and I recognized the odd similarities between that shooting, and the murder of Lennon just 3 months before that. Though I didn't know about the actual connection between the two (Chapman working for "World Vision" - a CIA front - under the supervision of Hinkley's father) until much later.

Well, at least you had some more actual musical talent in the first version. The Boss, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, etc.

with all due respect FORD, why would the CIA want to go after Lennon, a man that really didn't pose a threat to them for about..10 or so years earlier when the Vietnam War was going on?

The BCE definitely did consider Lennon a threat. That's why they had him under constant surveillance up through the mid 70's, including that ridiculous attempt to throw him out of the country on a 10 year old pot bust.

After that trial was over, John took 5 years off to be a dad to Sean and Jimmy Carter was in the White House for most of that time. But the BCE went out of their way to take that election (though not as blatantly as they did in 2000) and with "Double Fantasy" rising in the charts as they celebrated their electoral wins, and even rumors of a Beatles reunion beginning to circulate, Poppy and his pals probably didn't want to take any chances of that damn hippy left wing activism getting stirred up again.
