I saw an interview with him just a few weeks ago and he said that he likes France because he doesn't get recognised very often so can go to bars and grocery stores like a normal person.

Incidently tax is paid in the country it is earned so if he makes a film in Hollywood he's contributing to the US. Not to mention all the income he generates for the US by helping make US films popular elsewhere in the world.
