Hey cool concept Davemeister :)
I like it, you may have started something here !

Anyone with a shred of cred is gonna pass on Van Hagar...

To me the first option is the best..... Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks and
Mr (I dont need no stinkin pick!) Buckingham...

Great Stuff !

Uh, what's the question ??

Is it, "Which song now makes you want to beat someone senseless ??"

You know where I'm going.... ;)

If you played in a band in the late seventies, you covered Molly Hatchet's version of "Dreams". It was more hard-hitting progressive rock than southern sludge, and performing the Allman's original version would put everybody (including the players) to sleep anyway.

By the way, the "Dreams" tune offered is not by Boston. The track is from Barry Goudreau's self titled solo album. The Mission Aborted bootleg is a misleading ripoff, as it's "Missing Third Album" tracks are the complete Goudreau album. Only two members beside Goudreau appear on the album (late singer Brad Delp and drummer Sib Hashian).

Yeah, but there's still more members of "Boston" there than on the entire joke of an album that was called "Walk On".

Got to go with Fleetwood Mac on this one because it is just a damn bonifide classic. Molly Hatchet's is my second choice. I heard Molly's version and loved it back in the day before i even knew it was a cover.

It is my contention that Fleetwood Mac, since the arrival of Buckingham, is one of the greatest bands of the 70's to current considering their individual talents, the quality of their studio efforts, and their live performances. Lindsey really is a monster in his own style.

Terrible album - it's like Boston's version of VHIII

FM is tied for the lead on this one. I dig both, but I have always liked the Barry Goudreau tune and am going with that.

Sammy Hagar gives people gonorrhea without even sleeping with them.

Yeah, (and God bless him) even Brad Delp couldn't save Corporate America, which was even worse. :(

Dude, you forgot the best Dreams out there.

I actually didn't know the version in this YouTube.

The one I have is very similar, the most noticeable difference is that the vocals are better, Byron sounds much more comfortable in the chorus, not as forced as this recording.

Cheers! :bottle:

pathetic, Fleetwood Mac is beating ABB and Molly Hatchet, and Van Hagar, on a DLR site!

Either

a) Eddies 5150 studio is completely infested with wasps in the roof and in the walls

b) It is full of dodgy cabling

c) Or he and his brother have lost the top end of their hearing and their sycophantic engineers are too scared to say anything.

Something has to explain why everything they do in that studio has a shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh hi-hat white noise through it.

Or maybe it's ghostly spirits saying shhhhhhhhhhhhhit shhhhhhhhhhhhhit.

Gotta go with Stevie.

However, I thought Heart's would've been a choice until I realized it was actually "These Dreams."

Been listening to the Wilson sisters a bit lately and forgot how good they were. Even their 80's shit was good stuff. IMO.

A cool idea for a thread.

I like Molly Hatchet a lot, but I've never been a fan of that song. Boston have always passed me by - I just don't get it. To my ears, Fleetwood Mac have always sucked more dick than Paris Hilton on an average Saturday night, and anyone who votes for Van Hagar should be neutered.

The Cranberries have a haunting quality to them - and they get my pick.

You are right. Their music is pretty ghastly.
