Didn't realize this was a rerun until I looked it up on Youtube, but Steve Perry must be feeling particularly unloved these days.

Arnel is a great singer. Much better than Steve Augeri, imo.

As much as I hate the whole "hire the tribute band singer and pretend it's the real band" thing, the guy is good. Even has Perry's SamCookeIsms down to a science.

Definitely better than their first tribute singer Steve the clone, and certainly better than Jeff Sucks Scrotum. Wonder what he would sound like with his own band, not imitating Steve Perry?

First, Arnel is a terrific singer. And he seems like a really great guy. I can't express enough how happy I am for the guy that he pulled himself out of a horrible situation and is big time now. Definitely a sad story and a guy that is very easy to root for.

However, I love Journey, and it's just not Journey without Steve Perry to me. I love all those old songs. I'd almost kill to be able to see a reunion tour. I think it could be huge ie...The Police tour.

So basically my thoughts are these.

Wish Arnel all the best.

As for Journey...no Steve Perry, no ticket money from Sadaist.

Perry was way to much of a poser for me. This guy is the real deal. Perry wasn't original anyway !!

I have no control over the TV here my dear, and responsibilties inside. I am also forced to watch ET, Dr. Phil, Soaps and 2 solid hours of local news. There are days I'd rather have a bullet put in my head. Having Journey show up was a big treat.

My life is not my own anymore.

Even though I've never been a Journey fan, this guy does sound identical. I guess that's the only way these bands can stay in business? I mean doing the triple bill touring circuit? Recently I saw Foreigner (another band I never liked) on A&E and they had another clone voiced singer. Weird shit.

Shit, I dealt with two deaths this past week and thought I'd about had it? That is until I read what you have to endure.

You must have a soul of steel cos I'd start playing on the railroad tracks every chance I had. :p

It's fine. My "charge" is in ICU right now and things aren't looking too good here either in terms of the grim reaper. There are worse things than having to watch daytime TV, but I just don't want anybody thinking I watch Oprah by choice.

Things will change. In fact, I'm going to put up photos of my crazy project dream of converting a summer cottage into a 4 seasons home. I ain't givin' up yet.

Sorry to hear that. :( I've had enough grim reaper shit for quite a while, thank you very little.

Understood. Don't feel so badly though cos either Dan or Unchainme never miss an episode and are both more than happy to catch up anyone who's not interested.

Good on you. :) I hope I can get my ass in gear but I'm still running on the emotionally drained cycle. :(

Screw Perry and these so-called replacements! Their first singer was the best, plus the early albums had more instrumentals.

Those who have listened to any Journey album before "Infinity" know what I'm talking about.

I saw Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick (my wife's birthday present..she loves Journey) two years ago at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater.

Journey was OK...I thought Arnel's singing was mediocre. I'll admit his album singing and even different youtube stuff I've seen of him is quite good, however.

Heart though... those ladies know how to perform! I was very pleasantly surprised at their show. Excellent. I'd go see them again.

Heart is the shit! Saw them in 03 or 04 at the Pavilion in Portsmouth. I'd have to dig out my photo album to say for sure. That's where I keep all my concert tickets.

Did they do alot of old stuff when you saw em? They did when I went and kept the 80's ballads to a minimum in a short acoustic segment in the middle of the show and then rocked out!! I'd definately go seem them again.

You know, I'm always going to be a Perry-era Journey fan, love it, hate it, fuck it...doesn't matter...Steve Perry has some fucking incredible pipes, some of the best on the planet, and the guy's always going to have a spot in my heart for getting me laid back in the day on numerous dates...pop in a Journey cassette at the drive in if the movie sucked and just let the magic happen...

That said, Arnel seems to be a great kid, definitely has Steve Perry down to a fine art, and if you're going to get somebody to clone the singer you're known for, well...here's a perfect example of the theory in practice. Although I have to admit I haven't given two shits about Journey regardless of WHO has been singing for them since 1988 or thereabouts, Arnel definitely seems to mesh well with the band and the guys seem to feel like they're back home again.

It's a win and Arnel is definitely an awesome story.

That said, if Steve still has his voice and ever wants his job back, you KNOW damn well Arnel's ass is going to be sitting on the curb. Hope he has a great run though.
