According to their Web site, they picket funerals "to warn the people who are still living that unless they repent, they will likewise perish."

Albert Snyder sued the church, but the appeals court ruled against him. The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case.

Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly has pledged to pay the court costs. The American Legion is also soliciting donations for Snyder.

There is also another court that could boost the fines against the soldiers father into the 100's of thousands of dollars..


This is how Phelp church makes thier money pissing off people and then using the Goddamn courts to make money.


Question: If you were the father would you use Orieleys money to pay or default as best you could appeal to the supreme court...?

I mean Orieley is doing a good thing but paying Phelps is the wrong thing to do..?

Why are Phelps signs and taunts concidered hate speech...?

I mean if a soldier was killed who was Black and Gay and that could be proven, it would be labled as hate speech and would instantly involve jail time for the Phelps crew..

I mean would the law need to prove that the dude was gay to to use -Die Fags- signs in court....as a valid hate speech prosecution ?

I am not up on the deffinition of hate speech and the needs of reveal toward documentaion by a attorney?

Will "Soldier" soon be included into the Black "N" word the Gay "bashing" assaults that have been held up in court....? to define the ability to procecute free speech...?

How can we procecute free speech in two instances and not in ones that involve funerals of the military..?

Sadly, Westboro's behavior is protected under the Constitution so there isn't much that can be done about it, apparently.
I've heard two sides to the issue though and have concluded that the only way to defeat Phelp's is to use creative thinking.

Use their own protests as fund raisers to support the very things they are protesting against. And when you send in the donations do it in the name of Westboro Baptist Church, lol.
Therefore, the more protests they have, the more money goes to that which they hate.
Hell, you can put your own name on it, but just make sure that the money you raise is raised right in front of them.
I look at it as turning a negetive into a positive, lol.

I'd rather see something more permanant happen to Mr. Phelps...but i'll keep those details to myself.
You can't beat him with violence, he only funds his bullshit with the damages won in court.

Maybe people should start protesting at their church gatherings so they get a taste of their own medicine. Something like "God smites false prophets", and "God loves Gays as he does the faithful" written on the signs.

There has to be a way to get under their skin so they can be provoked into starting a riot...then the law has no choice but to intervene.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe someone hasn't been killed yet.
