Uma Thurmans Motherhood Bombs In UK Box Office
March 28th, 2010
By Gina Gomez
Much acclaimed actress Uma Thurman is creating headlines these days but not for reasons that she can be very proud of. The Kill Bill stars latest flick Motherhood seems to have not gone down too well with the audiences in United Kingdom with only 12 people going in to catch the movie in its opening weekend, according to reports.
If you do not consider that figure to be dismal enough, then here are some more facts that is surely going to disappoint all the die-hard Uma Thurman fans out there. A leading British news source has claimed that the day the movie was released in England only a single person bothered to watch the flick. Keeping these facts in mind, it hardly comes as a surprise that in its first weekend, the movie managed to fetch only $131 whereas it was made at a whopping cost of $5 million. While reacting to the rather miserable show at the united Kingdom box office, producer Jane Edelbaum reiterated that the flick must have broken a new gross record although emphasized that the flick surely was not that bad and could be termed as decent.
However, the lead actress of Motherhood, Uma Thurman has reportedly pointed out that the main reason for the poor showing of the movie was mainly due to the weak promotion of the film in Britain. Meanwhile, the flick, which focuses on a mother who tries her best to raise her children while attempting to pursue a career as a writer, supposedly did not do too well even in United States, where it collected only $50,000 during its first weekend.
