In certain circumstances, for different reasons entirely. Each has its own meaning and backstory that triggers a heavy heart.

Simon and Garfunkel's "El Cóndor Pasa" turns me into a broken, sobbing mess. I was only 2 when it was popular, but it had the same effect on me then that it does now, even if my mom hums a few bars for shits and giggles.

Blues Traveler's "Yours" does something similar. My guy told me he could've written that for me, and to think someone could love me that much just overwhelms me.

Jane's Addiction - Jane Says

Tool - 10,000 Days (I blubber to the point where it looks like I'm melting during this one.)

Machine Head - Violate

Metallica - Fade To Black

Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue

I know you said three Lounge, but these five sprung straight into my head when I read the thread title. As I type this, a couple more are coming in too....

Not surprising at all.

Music has the power to move us in many ways, so why are grown men so afraid to admit certain songs can bring about strong emotions?

Cool thread.

U2 - Running to Stand Still

Great song, we used to do a cover of that one in my band about 20 years back. It's ironic that you mentioned "Piano Man" cos I do a very obnoxious (who'd of thought? lol) imitation of that song that kets people laughing so hard they cry.

Anyhoo, here are my three and although they might be a bit cliché, just like Lounge mentioned prior, they're strong to me cos they're reminders of certain peeps close and when they died. :(

Oh, and speaking of fiddles, here's one that makes me sad. Because it was really a true story. http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/teufel/d085.gif

Yeah, pretty much. I cannot fucking stand Rascal Flatts! That lead singer of theirs sings like a bitch! In fact, I used to think it was a woman singing when I first heard them.

Good reply. I guess I meant I get emotional whenever I hear any of his so-called 'music', not because of any lyrical content, or 'musical vibe' (which you so rightly say does not actually exist) but it is not 'sadness' I feel, more like anger, as in "SHUT THIS FUCKING CRAP OFF!". :D
