Years ago I found this interesting story at findadeath.com, which is where you can go to find out about celebrity deaths, where their graves are, etc.

http://www.findadeath.com/Deceased/g/Garland,Judy/judy_garland.htm

Findadeath.com friend Willy Wilson sends us this: I have a great story that involves two of the people featured on your web-site. I interviewed Phil May from the band the Pretty Things and he told me this great story.

Phil was Brian Jones’ flat mate in London in the mid 1960’s. Their flat was right around the corner from Judy Garland’s. Judy was very friendly with them, and used to drop by and party with the boys. Phil said Judy used to break into their flat all the time, and steal their booze and drugs. On one occasion, after a night out on the town, Phil and Brian returned to their flat to find a very naked, passed out Judy Garland. They wrapped her in a blanket and let her sleep it off. The next day, when Judy awoke, she thanked the boys for looking after her, and promised them a night on the town and that she would bring a friend along, kind of a double date. Phil said that they were kind of anxious to see the other woman Judy was going to bring along. They heard her coming up to the door, and were looking out the window to see who the other woman was, but they couldn’t tell. So the big moment arrived, and the doorbell rang. Phil and Brian were stunned when Judy appeared, not with another woman but with Mikhail Baryshnikov. I asked Phil who ended up with who? He just replied, we didn’t end up with either of them, but we had a great night on the town.

Total party animal to say the least.

Here's a great link to some of her drunken ramblings that she recorded near the end of her life...

Baryshnikow did not defect from the Soviet Union until 1974. Garland died in 1969.

For some reason I find ballet creepy. My parents were into the fine arts so I spent my childhood being forced to go to orchestras, shakespherian festivals, broadway plays. Seeing those people dance around in tights creeped me the fuck out. Out all the stuff I was forced to go to the best was the polynesian dancers. I eat that stuff up. Grass skirts, fire dancing. I love that stuff.

Idiots.

OK wanna see what I find similar? And no it's not the package in tights. Go look at Baryshnikov's video at 1:55. It's beyond what any male dancer has ever done, and if it didn't have a "gay" stigma, you'd truly find it amazing. Atheleticisim at its pinnacle. If Dave had studied ballet, that's how good he'd be. I see the same power and intensity in their work.

So he was a great dancer. I was never into ballet. Buncha creeps leaping around in tights and tutus. No thanks.

Brian Jones died in 1969 also. So what? Baryshnikov toured the UK several years prior to his defection (he defected in Toronto, Canada by the way).

Why would you want to see a Broadway play when you could just see some Wagner? Or Verdi?

Unless, of course, you're gay.

Hmmmm...
Hunt for photos of Mikhail Baryshnikov or Judy Garland.

You look for Judy. I'll look for Mikhail.

Q: There is a scene in The Turning Point where your love interest is performing drunk and stumbles onstage. Were you ever inebriated onstage?
A: Yes. Yes. I was at the Kennedy Center, and I danced the day performance. Somebody else was dancing the same part in the evening—it was Don Quixote—and I had business between the shows. I had dinner with a few friends and had probably a couple of vodkas and a little wine. You know, it was a serious dinner. I was running American Ballet Theatre—I was the director—and the leading dancer arrives onstage, takes a few steps, and grabs her knee or hip or something. She cannot continue—it's an injury. First I think, Can we locate my partner? They locate her. Then I ask myself, Can you dance or not? Just because I'm a bit tipsy. But I jump in the hot shower, cold shower, this and that. I danced. I danced better than I'd danced in the afternoon. It was definitely an improvement.

Q: We seem to be passing through a moment in which Americans are obsessed with vodka, especially the luxury brands.
A: The Russians have a great saying: "There is no bad vodka. There is vodka, and there is very good vodka." I don't drink vodka anymore—very rarely, with a little good Russian food or something.

Q: Any advice for young men who want to dance?
A: You're a dancer or you're not. Young man or young woman—it doesn't matter: This disease hits everybody. No gender is spared. When a young man is a dancer, gay or straight does not matter anymore in our society, luckily. The dance world was always much more open about being queer. In a way, it still is—but more open to straight guys. You know what I mean?

Ballet IS creepy. It was designed in an era where people had much different expectations of what they would be entertained by. Doesn't stand up as mass entertainment today.

Not at all. I find it hard to believe that part of the story as well.

I could see Judy being passed out drunk in Brian Jones and Phil May's flat naked from drinking too much though.

And that is the purpose of this thread, sweetie. :sleazy-smiley:

It does not say "Phil May - Liar About Mikhail Baryshnikov" at the top of this thread, now does it? That would be a truly ghey thread, not worthy of posting about.

Judy Garland was a legendary drunken pill-popper who I would have loved to bend over a wagon on Aunty Em's farm back when she was 16, ass-raping her until she swore I was the Tin Woodman with the Chromium Cob.

Just to hear her shriek "OH GOD YOU SURE ARE HARDER THAN STEEL!!!!" as I splooged all over her ass would have been an incredible experience.

And I think that is because Baryshnikov was always open about his weakness, so his weakness didn't show up distorted on his face.
Judy lied, hid, deceived, and it showed on her face.

By the time Judy Garland was in her late 20s-early 30s I feel she lost whatever attractiveness she had. I mean, she was beautiful in Wizard Of Oz, and still had that girl-next-door beauty in Meet Me In St. Louis. Beyond that she got worse and worse, and in the 60s she really resembled an old, worn out, drunken hag.

I had this fucking curse going for years, where I would be channel surfing and come onto that movie Meet Me In St. Louis, and without fail it was always right when she was singing "The Trolley Song", a song I have fiercely and incredibly hated from the very first moment I ever heard it.

One interesting thing I discovered in the past day or so checking out info on her....she was only 4'-11 1/2" tall.

Man, I coulda bounced her up and down on my coch so easily.

Ah well. If I meet her in the afterlife, and, if I still have my gear (I dunnot if peeps go all smooth down there once they cross over), I am gonna do her in an otherworldly fashion. :hee:
